Kathy was born in Unity, Saskatchewan, to Ken and Evelyn Mawbey on May 11, 1964. She went to high school at Unity and graduated in 1982. Kathy attended Kelsey College and graduated as a parts man.

In 1983, Kathy met Herb at the Provost UFA. They celebrated their wedding on May 28, 1988, and spent 38 years together. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Kelly and Jill, which completed their family.

Kathy started as secretary for Provost UFA but decided she shouldn’t work at the same place as Herb. She then worked for Provost Mental Health for 27 years. From there, Kathy started Kid’s Korner Store in her house, moved to the church and finally downtown Mainstreet. Kathy cleaned 3 oilfield batteries, one for over 30 years. In 2013, Kathy started cleaning the Provost Recreation and Culture Center, a job she cherished and took great pride in until her passing. She was involved in the Girl Guides and enjoyed curling, 4-H, cooking and volunteered everywhere.

As much as Kathy loved her work and her community, there was nothing more important than the role she began that started in 2018 when she became a grandma to Quinn, Sutton, & Bennett.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Herb; son, Kelly (Melissa), granddaughter, Quinn; and daughter, Jill (Tylan), granddaughter, Sutton & grandson, Bennett; mother, Evelyn Mawbey; sisters, Barb (Peter), Brenda (Dale); mother-in-law, Adeline Meier; sisters-in-laws, Shelley (Fred), Debbie (Rod) and Sherry (Darcy); numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many treasured friends.

Kathy was predeceased by her father, Ken Mawbey; and father-in-law, Melvin Meier.

A Funeral Service to honour and celebrate Kathy’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Provost Recreation & Cultural Centre. A private family interment will take place at the Provost Cemetery.

Elizabeth Frances Rockey was born in Consort, Alberta, on April 16, 1948, to Vernon and Gertrude Doherty. She and her twin brother, William, were the youngest of four children. Together, the twins were lovingly known as “Billy and Betty,” a nickname that stayed with her throughout her life.

Betty married the love of her life, Ronald Rockey, on October 12, 1968. Together, they welcomed their two children, Tara and Trevor, in Calgary. In 1985, the family moved to the Edmonton area, where Betty and Ron ran Par-Tee Golf. They later returned to Consort, where Betty continued to make a lasting impact on her community.

Betty shared her love of dance with generations of young people, teaching alongside her daughter, Tara, until the most recent dance season. Affectionately known as “Mrs. Rockey” by her students, she cherished every moment spent with the young dancers and took great pride in watching them learn, grow, and find joy through dance.

After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Betty passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the Consort Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Betty will be forever loved and deeply missed by her children, Tara (Brad) Fawcett and Trevor (Sherry) Rockey; her four grandchildren, Taylor (Cole) Zoschke, Brooke Fawcett, Shailyn Rockey, and Mylah Rockey; her great-grandson, Hayes Zoschke; as well as many other relatives, friends, and all of the dance students whose lives she touched.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ron, in December 2019; her parents, Vernon and Gertrude Doherty; her twin brother, Billy Doherty and sister-in-law Rose; her brother, Jim Doherty; and her sister, Pat Boyd and brother-in-law Wayne.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Consort Sportex Hall on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Olga Ganser
1927 – 2026

Olga was born on October 6, 1927, at Marengo, Saskatchewan to Anna & Mike Stasiuk. She passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at the Provost Health Centre – Long Term Care, at the age of 98 years.

Olga will be forever loved and missed by her children, Norine (Ron) Fadden, and Stephen (Debbie) Ganser; her six grandchildren, Dustin (Crystal) Paquette, Ryan Paquette, Amanda (John) Hanki, Mark (Emily) Paquette, Katrina Ganser, and William (Tayna) Ganser; her seven great grandchildren, Brynn & Kaylle Paquette, Ryker & Ellie Paquette, and Kohen, Kinsley, & Harper Hanki; her sister, Helen Solverson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Olga was predeceased by her husband, Norbert in April of 2009; sister, Vangie Weisbrod; and her brother, Harry Stasiuk; as well as her brothers and sisters in law.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Rosenheim, Alberta. Interment to follow at the Rosenheim Cemetery.

Allene Roberta Paulgaard was born on February 26, 1936, in Provost, Alberta to parents, Frank & Madge Hager (nee Merriman).

Surrounded by her faith and the love of her family, Allene passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the Provost Health Centre Long Term Care at the age of 90 years.

She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Robin (Doug) Rawling, Wendy (Ed) Roste, Brenda (John) Sullivan, Brent (Charlene) Paulgaard, Carolyn (Chris) Baier, Marty (Yvonne) Paulgaard, and Jonathan (Helene) Paulgaard; 21 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Floyd) Johnson, Dixie Sliger, and Jackie Cecil; sisters in law, Ellen Berg, Gretyl Hager, Cathy Hager, and Susan Hager; brother in law, Lawrence (Penny) Paulgaard; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Allene was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Arvid; brothers, Brian Hager, Dale Hager, and Graham Hager; grandson, Joshua Baier; nephews, Douglas Hager and Rodney Hager.

Antonia “Toni” Clark, 98, of Kindersley and Kerrobert passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026.

Born on the family farm in Netherhill, she was the daughter of Luigi and Orsola Costa, Italian immigrants who settled in Saskatchewan to farm during a wave of agricultural migration from Europe. She attended Netherhill School, a three-room schoolhouse, while helping on the family farm, experiencing great hardship during the Great Depression and the drought of the “Dirty Thirties.”

She was accepted to the St. Boniface School of Nursing and, at the age of 17, boarded a train with her mother from Saskatoon to Winnipeg to pursue a childhood dream of becoming a nurse. After graduating from St. Boniface in 1949, she moved back to Saskatchewan to work as a nurse and then lived in British Columbia before moving back to Kindersley where she worked as an R.N. in the Kindersley Union Hospital. It was there that she met Harry Clark, whom she married in 1953. After taking a break from nursing to raise her four daughters, she returned to work in 1968, continuing to work as an R.N. until her retirement in 1991.

Respected for her exemplary skills as a nurse and care for all patients, Toni quite literally went the extra mile during the polio pandemic when she rode 120 miles with a patient in the back of a station wagon to a hospital in Saskatoon. When a dying woman asked to see her dog but was told animals were not allowed in the hospital, Toni secretly wheeled the patient to the hospital chapel where the dog was waiting so that the two could say their good-byes. She was a mentor to other nurses, sharing wisdom and building lifelong friendships with her colleagues.

A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she took great pride in the accomplishments of her entire family. She was steadfast in her devotion to her parents and entire family, traveling near and far to visit family and support the activities of her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Toni was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Kindersley. She was an active Kinette and member of the local curling club.

After retirement, she volunteered at the Kindersley & District Plains Museum and the Wheatland Regional Library. She and Harry enjoyed traveling, whether visiting family or new travel destinations in many parts of the world.

In addition to her parents, Toni was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2003. She was also predeceased by her brother, Peter, sister, Louise, father-in-law, Alex, mother-in-law, Leota, sisters-in-law, Emma and Verna, brother-in-law, Jim, son-in-law, Don, and grandson, Derek. She is survived by her four daughters: Colleen (George) of Calgary, Lana (Joe) of Macklin, Gloria of Saskatoon and Kerrobert, and Valarie of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Also seven grandchildren, Carly, Paula (Brad), Kevin (Ali), Neil, Allison, Harrison (Kristin) and Corrine (Eric); and ten great-grandchildren, Owen, Eddie, Marissa, Carson, Alyssa, Brayden, Rylan, Ryder, Dylan and Natalie. Also brother-in-law, Jack, and sister-in-law, Amy; nieces Bonny, Diane, Donna, Dawn, Jacquie and Terri; and a nephew, Dale.

The family wishes to thank the staff and homecare staff of Pioneer’s Haven for their loving and dedicated care over the years, and Dr. Wentzel, Dr. Mada and staff at the Kerrobert and District Health Care Centre for their kind, compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held July 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Kindersley, Saskatchewan. Interment will follow at the Kindersley Cemetery with a luncheon in the church hall afterward.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Denise Irene Imeson (nee Nadal), who passed away on July 19th, 2026 in the comfort of family and care givers at the Provost Long Term Care Centre at the age of 95 years.

Denise was born in the Provost Alberta hospital on January 23rd, 1931 to loving French parents Jean and Leonie Nadal. Denise, was the youngest of three daughters: Jean, Yvette & Denise. While the other immediate family members immigrated to Canada in 1927, Denise was the only family member born in Canada. In the early years, the family earned a living homesteading in the Eye Hill District living close to other French speaking families. Denise’s early childhood memories were of her hard working parents doing their best to carve out a new life on the prairies during very difficult times. Frequently she would find herself under the care and supervision of her older sisters. She remembers her family tending to livestock, gardening, canning and working the land. Denise recalls gathering with other families in the area to share in old country traditions and to create new Canadian traditions. This became a highlight during her childhood especially during the holiday seasons.

Denise’s schooling was comprised of a number of small country schools over the years. She attended Gascony School for grades 1 & 2, Basin Lake School for grades 3, 4 & 5, Eye Hill School for grades 6 & 7, Rosenheim School for grade 8 and Provost School for grades 9, 10 & 11. After completing grade 11, Denise was asked to work occasional summer shifts at the telephone office for A.G.T in Provost. Later that year, she began working a full time position where she remained for the next 25 years.

In the summer of 1946, Denise met a striking young fellow, Mac Edwin Imeson who had just returned back to Canada from the WWII campaign in Europe. Over the next 4 years, Mac and Denise courted and on April 17, 1951 married in the United Church in Provost. On January 22nd, 1955 their daughter Maxine was born and December 8th, 1958 their son Darrel was born.

On October 15th, 1957 Mac & Denise purchased their first home in Provost together. That new home became their forever home where they raised their family. Little did they know it at that time but that home would become Grand Central Station for the entire family seeing many grandchildren and great grandchildren walk through its doors.

Denise was dedicated to family, friends and the community. A dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her door was always open to whoever wanted to share in a home cooked meal, accommodation or just a cup of coffee, sweet treat and a conversation: qualities she came by honestly from her mother. Denise was an active member of the Legion Auxiliary. She received a Lifetime Volunteer Award for her time and dedication to the Meals on Wheels program. Denise could be spotted in local arenas and ball diamonds cheering on numerous generations of athletes in the family. She enjoyed golf and fishing trips with friends and family. She was an active participant in the Provost Bowling League and loved playing Cribbage and Bridge.

Denise was never one to shy away from the opportunity to travel and experienced many new adventures away from the Provost area. She travelled extensively throughout Canada, the US & Europe with friends and family.

Denise’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Provost Health Centre in the Long Term Care for the compassionate and nurturing care Denise received over the years. A special thank you to Doctor Erasmus for the friendship, dedication and dignity shown towards Denise and family throughout the years and during her time in palliative care.

Lila Brenda was born on May 13, 1954, in Provost, Alberta, to Otto and Armella Scherger.

Surrounded by the love of her family, Lila passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 72, following a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Throughout her journey, Lila faced every challenge with remarkable strength, courage and unwavering determination. She embraced every treatment and diagnosis with hope, never allowing it to break her spirit. Her courage inspired everyone who knew her. She was a fighter in every sense of the word, and as long as there was hope, she never stopped believing in herself.

Lila was raised in Provost alongside her five siblings. As the oldest, she naturally stepped into the role of protector and caregiver, a role she embraced for the rest of her life. Looking after others came as naturally to her as breathing. In 1977, Lila married the love of her life, Albert, and together they began the adventure of raising a family. They welcomed three children, whose love, laughter, and endless activities kept them happily busy from that moment on.

She lived life with enthusiasm, kindness, and an infectious sense of joy. Known throughout the community for her contagious laugh, bubbly personality, and legendary “take out” weight in discing. Lila was someone who made every person she met feel welcome. She had a genuine gift for conversation, a compassionate heart, and an unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. Quite simply, Lila loved people, and people loved her.

Nothing brought Lila greater happiness than caring for her home and her family. She treasured the weekly Scherger family gatherings with Chase the Ace, tending to her beautiful yard and garden, and ending the day around a campfire surrounded by family and friends. She devoted countless hours to cheering on her children at sporting events, school activities, and every milestone in between. As the years passed, that same unwavering dedication was poured into her grandchildren, who became the center of her world. Becoming a grandmother was the greatest joy of her life, and she embraced that role with a love beyond measure. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride, and they will forever carry with them the warmth, wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love she so freely gave.

Lila also had a deep love for travel and adventure. She created countless treasured memories by taking her entire family on annual tropical vacations. Whether it was an all-inclusive getaway with family and friends or simply any opportunity to laugh, make memories, play jokes on people and spend time with the people she loved, Lila was always ready for the next adventure or shopping trip.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Provost Health Centre for the exceptional compassion, care, and kindness they showed Lila throughout the past year. A heartfelt thank you to her oncologist, Dr. Mark Webster, whom Lila adored beyond measure. His compassion, dedication, and genuine care brought comfort and hope throughout her journey, and his kindness will never be forgotten.

The family would also like to thank everyone who supported Lila throughout her illness, especially during the more difficult days. Every visit, phone call, meal, ride, message, and act of kindness meant more than words can express. Lila was deeply grateful for the love that surrounded her, and her family will forever cherish the incredible support shown to her.

Lila will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her loving children Radean (Rory) and their children Finn, Pierce, Keane & Bridget; Ryley (Janelle) and their children Mya, Paisley, Harper & Beckett; Renee (Jeremy) and their children Aspyn, Porter & Pearson as well as her siblings Wanda, Myrna, Calvin (Agata), Kevin (Sandra), Myron (Ione), and all of her nieces and nephews, her sister in laws Joyce (Ray), Margarette and countless family, friends and friends who were family.

Lila was predeceased by her husband, Albert, her parents, Otto and Armella Scherger and many cherished brother and sister-in laws.

A memorial service will be held for Lila on Tuesday July 21st, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Provost Hall in Provost, Alberta with Pastor Paul. Interment to follow at the Provost Cemetery.

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Gartner, who passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the Provost Long Term Care Centre at the age of 78 years.

Shirley was born on November 22, 1947, in Unity, Saskatchewan, to Charles and Lillian Gibbens. She was the eldest of four daughters: Shirley, Charlene, Judy, and Gail. As the oldest, Shirley was always willing to lend a hand on the family farm, working alongside her father with everything from harvesting to baling hay and whatever else needed to be done.

As a young girl, Shirley became involved in the 4H movement, where she enjoyed showing her calf and fondly remembered a group trip to Iowa.

She attended Ruth School through Grade 8 before completing her high school education in Unity, Saskatchewan.

It was at a school dance that Shirley met the young man she would spend the rest of her life with. Shirley and Alex were married on July 17, 1967, beginning a beautiful life together built on love, family, and shared adventures.

Their daughter, Leslie, was born on March 9, 1970, in Unity, Saskatchewan. Just one week later, the young family moved to Provost, Alberta, where they would build the life they called home. Their family was completed on April 1, 1972, with the arrival of their son, Blair. Alex always had a difficult time convincing family and friends that their son had actually been born on April Fool's Day.

Shirley found great joy in caring for her home and family. She loved tending a large garden and a yard overflowing with beautiful flowers. She spent countless hours in the kitchen baking for family and friends and became especially well known for her homemade egg noodles, which were enjoyed by loved ones throughout Western Canada, from Regina and Saskatoon to Edmonton and Calgary.

Knitting and crocheting filled many of Shirley's quiet moments. Baby blankets and dishcloths became her specialties, and she took particular pride in creating blankets for her grandchildren, as well as for the newest additions of relatives and friends.

Alex and Shirley shared a love of travel and created many wonderful memories together. They visited Mexico and Hawaii three times, toured Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, and spent 14 winters in Indio, California. One of the highlights of their travels was having the opportunity to attend an audience with the Pope.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Provost Medical Centre and Provost Long Term Care Centre for the compassionate care Shirley received over the years. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Malan, whose many home visits and unwavering care went above and beyond. Shirley truly appreciated everything you did for her.

Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 59 years, Alex; her children, Leslie Siefert (Ken) and Blair Gartner (Darlene); her grandchildren, Brandon Siefert, Taylor Siefert, Mackenzie Gartner, and Hailey Gartner; her sisters, Judy Swerid (Larry) and Gail Dettling (Ken); her cousin, Bob Gibbens (Donna); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Lillian Gibbens; her sister, Charlene; her brother by heart, George Sherwood; and many cherished brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A memorial service will be held for Shirley on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Provost, Alberta with Father Avinash Francis SAC officiating. Interment to follow at the Provost Cemetery.
