It is with immense pride and joy that we celebrate Christina Savard-Saviadjuk as she officially earns her title as a midwife.

Christina began her midwifery training at the Salluit maternity centre in 2016. Over the past ten years, she has shown extraordinary dedication, perseverance, courage, and passion throughout her journey, all while raising her five children and remaining deeply committed to her community.

Throughout her training, Christina consistently distinguished herself as a compassionate, dependable, and hardworking member of the Salluit maternity team. Her strength and commitment were especially evident during last summer’s critical staffing shortages, when maternity services faced significant challenges. During this demanding period, Christina became an essential source of support for her colleagues and helped ensure the continuity of vital maternity services despite reduced staffing and the absence of an immediate replacement plan for several months.

Today, we are incredibly proud to celebrate Christina as a new Inuk midwife. Her achievement is not only an important personal milestone, but also a meaningful moment for Salluit, for Inuulitsivik, and for Inuit-led maternity care in Nunavik.

C’est avec une immense fiertĂ© et une grande joie que nous soulignons aujourd’hui l’accomplissement de Christina Savard-Saviadjuk, qui porte dĂ©sormais officiellement le titre de sage-femme.

Christina a entrepris sa formation en pratique sage-femme au Centre de maternitĂ© de Salluit en 2016. Au cours des dix derniĂšres annĂ©es, elle a fait preuve d’une dĂ©termination, d’une persĂ©vĂ©rance et d’une passion remarquables tout au long de son parcours, tout en Ă©tant une mĂšre dĂ©vouĂ©e de cinq enfants et une personne profondĂ©ment engagĂ©e envers sa communautĂ©.

Tout au long de sa formation, Christina s’est dĂ©marquĂ©e par son professionnalisme, sa compassion et son dĂ©vouement envers les familles et son Ă©quipe. đŸŽ€đŸŽŒ A Song of Hope and Connection from Music Week in Ivujivik
Back in March, a special song was created by the youth of the community of Ivujivik.

đŸ‘«The song Anninartuti is the result of people coming together through creativity, culture and music. It reflects connection, mutual support, resilience and the strength found together during challenging times.

It was written and performed by Sarah Ainalik and Spaceman Dela, during workshops focused on creativity, self-expression and hip-hop culture. The song blends traditional Inuit throat singing by Sarah Ainalik and Leah Qavavauk with beatboxing and hip-hop influences.

This project was part of a life-promotion and su***de-prevention initiative, as a reminder that every person is important, every voice matters and all are strengthened together.

En mars dernier, une chanson spéciale a été créée durant la Semaine de la musique à Ivujivik.

đŸ‘«Anninartuti est bien plus qu'une chanson. C'est un exemple de ce qui peut naĂźtre lorsque des personnes se rassemblent autour de la crĂ©ativitĂ©, de la culture et de la musique. Cette chanson Ă©voque les liens qui nous unissent, l'entraide, la rĂ©silience et la force que nous puisons les uns chez les autres pour surmonter les dĂ©fis.

Écrite et interprĂ©tĂ©e par Sarah Ainalik et Spaceman Dela, Anninartuti est nĂ©e lors d'une sĂ©rie d'ateliers axĂ©s sur la crĂ©ativitĂ©, l'expression de soi, la culture hip-hop et l'Ă©criture de chansons. L'Ɠuvre mĂ©lange le chant de gorge inuit traditionnel de Sarah Ainalik et Leah Qavavauk au beatbox et aux influences du hip-hop, crĂ©ant ainsi une collaboration musicale unique.

Our hearts are with the family, loved ones and the entire community of Ivujivik following the heartbreaking loss of a four-year-old child.

We know that the pain of losing a child is felt deeply, not only by the family, but by the whole community. We extend our deepest condolences to everyone who is grieving and to all those who have been affected by this tragedy.

At this difficult time, we ask everyone to take care of one another, remain calm, and give space for the review and investigation processes to take place. Violence is not the answer. Healing and understanding will come through compassion, respect, and supporting one another as a community.

Support is available for anyone who is struggling or grieving. Natural helpers and health professionals are present and have been mobilized to offer culturally grounded, compassionate care and support in the days and weeks ahead.

The Inuulitsivik Health Centre is deeply saddened by the recent death of a child in one of the communities we serve. We extend our most sincere condolences to the child’s family, loved ones, and community during this extremely difficult time.

We recognize the concern and emotion that this situation has generated in the community. The circumstances surrounding this tragic event are being carefully examined, and the Inuulitsivik Health Centre is fully cooperating with the processes underway to establish the facts and understand what occurred.

The safety and well-being of the people we serve remain our highest priority. We are taking this situation seriously and we are committed to understanding what occurred. We will be taking the necessary actions in response to any findings or recommendations resulting from the appropriate review processes.

🚧 Puvirnituq Hospital Modernization Project – New Temporary Access

We'd like to share an important update on the ongoing modernization work at Puvirnituq Hospital.

✅ Starting Monday, August 3:
‱ The cafeteria entrance will reopen and become the main entrance to the hospital.
‱ Access to the hospital and parking areas will be through this entrance. Please follow the posted signs and temporary traffic routes.

🌙 Starting Tuesday, August 4:
Evening and nighttime work will take place inside the hospital to install temporary construction partitions. Please use extra caution when moving through the building and respect all safety signage and barriers.

🚧 Construction will continue over the coming weeks as we work to modernize the hospital. Temporary changes to access and circulation may be required as the project progresses.

Des travaux seront rĂ©alisĂ©s en soirĂ©e et durant la nuit Ă  l’intĂ©rieur de l’hĂŽpital afin d’installer des cloisons temporaires dĂ©limitant les zones de construction.
