Massage school looks a little different from your typical classroom. 👀💆‍♀️

At AIM, learning goes beyond textbooks and lectures. Our students spend their time studying anatomy, practicing hands-on techniques, learning assessment and treatment skills, working together, and building the confidence they’ll need as future Massage Therapists.

And yes… sometimes the skeletons get involved too. 😂🦴

It’s always exciting to see our instructors continuing to learn and grow! Four members of the AIM instructional team attended Dr. Nikita Vizniak’s IASTM session at the 2026 NHPC Conference, with our instructor Janelle participating as the demonstration client in this photo.

We also teach from several of Dr. Vizniak’s textbooks, so this was an especially meaningful learning opportunity for our team. While IASTM is not currently part of our curriculum, we hope to welcome Dr. Vizniak to AIM for future training.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) uses special instruments or tools, often made of stainless steel, to help manipulate soft tissues.

Delegates of the 2026 NHPC Conference learned from Dr. Nikita Vizniak on how IASTM can decrease treatment time, improve patient outcomes, and prolong their career by saving their hands.

Learning goes beyond the textbook.

This weekend, our second-year students spent time developing their joint mobilization skills through hands-on practice and instructor guidance.

Using respected industry resources and evidence-informed techniques, students continue building the confidence, precision, and clinical reasoning needed to provide effective treatment for future clients.

At the Alberta Institute of Massage, we believe the best way to learn is by doing.

Every class is another step toward becoming a knowledgeable, confident Registered Massage Therapist.

Learning to care for others begins with learning to care for yourself.

Our first-year students recently spent the day focusing on self-care, guided by instructor Crystal.

From stretching and movement to reflection and relaxation, the day was filled with practical tools our students can use both personally and professionally as future massage therapists.

Because the best therapists know that wellness starts with themselves.

Taking care of others starts with taking care of yourself. 💙

This past weekend, our first-year students stepped away from the textbooks and massage tables to focus on something just as important... themselves.

During our self-care retreat with instructor Crystal, students explored practical tools they can use in their own lives while learning techniques, stretches, and wellness strategies they can also share with future clients.

As massage therapists, we often spend our days helping others feel their best. Learning how to prioritize our own well-being is an important part of becoming a great therapist.

A huge thank you to Crystal for creating such a meaningful and inspiring day for our students. 💙
