✨ Research to Real Life ✨

While we’re in the middle of our Relationship Patterns That Keep Us Stuck series, I wanted to pause for a special Research to Real Life episode.

Every so often, I’ll step outside our current series to explore the work of researchers and authors whose ideas have shaped the way we understand ourselves and our relationships.

This episode features the work of Brené Brown and her book The Gifts of Imperfection. We’ll explore how embracing our imperfections, letting go of perfectionism, and cultivating self-compassion can strengthen not only our relationship with ourselves, but also the relationships we have with others.

I hope you’ll join me for this special episode on July 27 and 30 before we continue with our relationship series 💛

This week, a session in my office reminded me just how powerful words can be.

Sometimes the most painful things we carry aren’t recent at all. They are words spoken years ago that quietly took up residence in our minds.

“You’re not enough.”
“You’ll never succeed.”
“You’re too much.”
“No one will ever love you.”

Over time, those words can begin to feel like truth rather than something someone once said.

One of the things I appreciate about Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is that it helps people process the emotional impact of painful memories. As the emotional weight begins to lift, many people discover they no longer have to let those old messages define who they are.

We can’t always choose the words that were spoken to us, but we can choose whether they continue to rent space in our minds.

This quote felt like the perfect reminder. 💙

Hope is more than a nice feeling—it’s one of the most powerful psychological resources we have.

Research has found that hope helps us persevere through challenges, build resilience, cope more effectively with stress, and stay motivated even when life feels uncertain. It doesn’t erase difficult circumstances, but it helps us believe that another step forward is possible.

Hope reminds us that today’s reality doesn’t have to be tomorrow’s story.

I came across this quote today and wanted to share it with you. I hope it offers a little encouragement, wherever you are on your journey. 💛
