How often do we take our vision for granted?

I do. More often than I care to admit. And I say that as somebody who has been working as an optician for over 20 years.

Today I was washing up my breakfast dishes and looked out the window. I was about to be wowed!

There was the most gorgeous pink and purple sunrise telling me to get outside and appreciate the beauty of a new day.

Thankful for all the amazing parts of my eyeballs that let me see all these glorious colors and for my glasses that give me clearer vision.

Hello everyone!
A Welcome Sight Mobile optician is closed this week for any bookings as I am working with an optometrist in northern Alberta at a fly-in reserve community. I am excited at the prospect of helping young students receive eyecare and much needed eyeglasses. I didn't know my optician license was going to take me here and it's a great thrill to have flown to work today!

I often think of my own maternal grandparents who lived in remote northern Manitoba and I wonder what eyecare looked like for them. I'm not even sure if they ever had full eye exams or proper prescription eyeglasses but if they did, it was either mobile service providers who came into the community that helped them or they had to fly south to Winnipeg for care.

Somebody like me, coming to help our lovely northern neighbours. That's pretty cool.

Hello everyone!
