February is Psychology Month 🧠

So let’s talk about what “evidence-based therapy” actually means (because it matters!).

When a therapy is evidence-based, it means it’s grounded in solid science. These approaches have been studied in real clinical research and shown to help people make meaningful, lasting changes. It’s not based on trends or personal opinion. It’s built on data, outcomes, and ongoing testing.

Approaches like ACT, CBT, ERP, CPT, and PE have strong research support for concerns like anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and depression.

But here’s something that often gets missed. Evidence-based practice is not just about research alone.

The best therapy sits at the intersection of three things:
• the best available scientific evidence
• the clinician’s training and judgment
• your preferences, values, and lived experience

Research shows us what tends to work. Clinical judgment helps tailor it responsibly. And your voice matters because therapy is not happening in a lab. It is happening in your real life.

That balance is what makes therapy both grounded and human.

When you’re vulnerable enough to reach out for support, you deserve care that is thoughtful, informed, and collaborative.

Science and compassion are not opposites. The best therapy is built on both. 💛

Love matters (now more than ever).
Connection in all its forms — romantic, platonic, familial, chosen, and furry — protects and sustains us.
It’s worth celebrating.

Happy Love Day 💛

We're so excited to announce a new addition to our team!

Gabrielle Desgagné (she/her) is a registered psychologist (SK #1311) with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists. She has a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta and has completed all requirements for her PhD in Counselling Psychology, with degree conferral pending. Her doctoral training included a one-year predoctoral residency at Counselling and Clinical Services at the University of Alberta.

Gabrielle works with adults experiencing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, relationship challenges, grief, anger, and self-criticism.

Her approach is humanistic, which means she believes people can grow and heal when they feel safe, understood, and supported. She works closely with clients to explore challenges, set goals, and find practical ways to make meaningful, manageable changes. Gabrielle is warm, approachable, and easy to talk to, helping clients feel comfortable sharing what matters most to them.

She draws on evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Treatment is tailored to each client’s unique needs and preferences.

Outside of work, Gabrielle is her cat Piper’s personal assistant, an aspiring chef (with occasional triumphs), and a devoted Netflix critic. These hobbies help her stay grounded and bring her best self to her work with clients.
