Last week, our Little Village Preschool morning class went on a field trip to Sherwood Co-op Parliament, and it was such a fun, hands-on way to learn about our community! 🛒💛
Our little learners were toured around the store, starting in the produce section, where they got to see all the fresh fruits and vegetables that help fill our carts and tables. Then we made our way to the bakery, where the kids learned all about how fresh bread and treats are made. Did you know their bakers start their day at 2 AM? That definitely made our little ones appreciate those fresh bakery smells even more!
After the bakery, the kids also got to enjoy some sweet, refreshing watermelon, which was a big hit. 🍉 From there, we visited the meat department, where the team showed the children how meat is prepared and ground. They even treated the kids to chicken nuggets, which was definitely a highlight!
We also stopped by the sushi station and the deli/prepared foods area, where sandwiches and ready-to-eat meals are made. The children had lots of questions, and the staff were so patient, kind, and happy to show them what happens behind the scenes at the grocery store.
To make the day even sweeter, the kids were given cupcakes after the tour! 🧁 Before leaving, our morning class also gave the Sherwood Co-op staff a handmade thank-you card they worked on together.
A big thank you to the wonderful staff at Sherwood Co-op Parliament for being so sweet, welcoming, and excited to teach our preschoolers about the grocery store. Experiences like this help children connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them.
