Football asks a lot from your body — sprinting, cutting, tackling, jumping and changing direction, often within seconds of each other. 🏈

Some of the common football injuries we see include ankle sprains, hamstring and groin strains, knee injuries and shoulder injuries.

While no injury-prevention program can eliminate risk completely, preparing your body for the demands of your sport can make a difference.

Strength. Control. Gradual loading. Recovery. And when an injury does happen, proper rehab before returning to play.

Save this post for football season — and if pain or an injury is keeping you off the field, book an assessment with the Stapleford physiotherapy team.

⚽ Soccer is one of the most physically demanding sports, requiring repeated sprinting, cutting, jumping, kicking, and rapid changes of direction. At Stapleford, we commonly see hamstring strains, ankle sprains, knee injuries, groin strains, and shin splints throughout the summer season.

While not every injury can be prevented, many can be significantly reduced with the right preparation. A proper warm-up, progressive strength training, balance work, mobility, and allowing adequate recovery between games all play an important role in keeping you healthy.

If pain is lingering after a game or you’re dealing with a recurring injury, don’t wait until it sidelines your season. Our rehabilitation team—including physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, exercise therapists, and athletic therapists—can assess the issue, develop a personalized treatment plan, and help you safely return to play.

⚽ Stay healthy. Stay strong. Stay in the game.

⚾ The best ability is availability.

Whether you’re chasing home runs, turning double plays, or playing recreational slow pitch with friends, staying healthy is key to enjoying the season.

Baseball and slow pitch involve repetitive throwing, swinging, sprinting, and quick changes in direction—all of which can place significant stress on your body. Some of the most common injuries we see include rotator cuff strains, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, low back pain, hamstring and calf strains, knee pain, ankle sprains, and muscle pulls from not properly warming up or returning to play too quickly.

The good news? Many of these injuries are preventable. A proper warm-up, improving shoulder and hip mobility, building strength through your core and lower body, and allowing your body adequate recovery can go a long way toward keeping you healthy all season.

If you’re dealing with nagging pain, noticing your throwing or swinging mechanics have changed, or simply want to improve your movement before an injury develops, our team at Stapleford Health & Rehab is here to help. Through physiotherapy, chiropractic care, exercise therapy, massage therapy, and individualized rehabilitation programs, we’ll help you recover faster, move better, and stay in the lineup.

⛳ Looking to improve your golf game this summer?

Josh is sharing some of his favourite mobility exercises to help you move better, generate more power, and improve your golf swing. Incorporating these movements into your warm-up or weekly routine can help increase mobility, improve rotation, and reduce stiffness so you can play your best all season long.

🏌️ 90-90 Hip Flip Flops
Great hip mobility is essential for an efficient golf swing. This exercise improves internal and external hip rotation, helping you create a smoother backswing and follow-through while reducing unnecessary stress on your lower back.

🌀 Four Point Thread the Needle
Thoracic spine mobility plays a huge role in generating club speed. This movement improves rotation through your upper back while encouraging better shoulder movement, allowing for a fuller, more controlled swing.

🏋️ Stick Shoulder Abduction Range of Motion (ROM)
Healthy shoulder mobility helps you achieve a more comfortable backswing and better club positioning throughout the swing. This exercise opens the shoulders and chest while improving overhead and rotational movement.

🔄 Hinged Thoracic Rotation with Stick Hugged Across the Chest
This exercise targets rotational mobility where golfers need it most—the thoracic spine. By keeping your hips stable while rotating through your upper back, you’ll improve separation between your hips and shoulders, helping generate more power and consistency while reducing compensation through the lower back.

Whether you’re golfing every weekend or just getting started this season, adding a few minutes of mobility work can help you swing more efficiently, improve performance, and keep you feeling your best on and off the course.

🏓 Love playing pickleball? Don’t let an injury keep you off the court!

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports—and while it’s fun, social, and a great way to stay active, it’s also bringing an increase in injuries. At our clinic, we commonly see pickleball elbow (similar to tennis elbow), shoulder pain, calf and Achilles strains, knee pain, ankle sprains, and low back discomfort related to the repetitive movements and quick changes of direction required during play.

Many of these injuries develop gradually from repetitive stress, while others happen suddenly during a quick sprint, pivot, or lunge for the ball. The good news? 🙌 Many pickleball injuries can be prevented by taking a few simple steps: warming up before you play, building strength and balance, wearing supportive court shoes, staying hydrated, and allowing your body adequate time to recover between games.

⚠️ Don’t ignore persistent aches or pain. What starts as a minor annoyance can become a more significant injury if left untreated. Addressing symptoms early often leads to a quicker recovery and helps you get back to doing what you enjoy most.

💪 Whether you’re recovering from an injury or simply want to reduce your risk of one, our rehabilitation team can help you move with confidence, improve your strength and mobility, and develop a personalized plan to keep you healthy and playing your best all season long.

🏓 Stay healthy. Stay strong. Stay in the game.
