🎵I'm dreaming of a herb garden 🎶

(Sung to the tune of White Christmas).

While we are still in the grip of winter over here, the sun has started to re-emerge and I, for one, am reaaaady for long hit days and warm evenings outside under the fairy lights.

So what better way to celebrate both this cozy hibernation time, and the return of the sun, then with a herb garden planning and dreaming session.

Think a cozy winter morning with a hot drink, looking a gorgeous inspiration pics, sketching in your journal, and then wandering the herb garden at the beautiful Auckland Botanic Gardens, finding real life inspiration and having a medical Herbalist at your fingertips to answer all your herby questions.

A few weeks ago I had the absolute honour to walk the Tongariro Crossing with a dear friend. We had incredible weather, made friends along the way, and enjoyed the absolutely epic walk from beginning to end.

(I mean the last 2kms where one of my toenails started to loosen weren't *great* but overall it was still a win).

But in the weeks leading up to the walk I admit that I was nervous. I've had lots of weird musculoskeletal issues in the past, maybe some hypermobility, and I tend to get injured pretty easily 😅.

And look, I'm not saying that an anti-inflammatory diet is what made me not get injured, but I'm sure that it didn't hurt, especially as I have personally and professionally played around with different eating patterns over the 15+ years that I've been doing this work, and I can confidently state that yes, diet does impact how you feel and function 😉.

Anyways, other than just wanting to share what a magical time I had, I thought I'd use this story to promote an upcoming class that I'm running at the lovely all around ways to support a healthy Inflammatory load with good old fashioned food 🥑.

It's my birthday!

What a wild year this trip around the sun has been. There have been major changes personally with work (thanks, redundancy, but hello again plant walks my old friend).

The world around us has continued to be run by psychopathic mediocre men (lame, boring, wildly destructive), but yet in pockets of local community I see joy and hope and connection.

My wish for myself and for all of us is that these next 12 months bring more of the latter (and less mediocre billionaires, ideally - none).

Birthday weekend included:
1. Obligatory (and excellent!) swim in the sea
2. A new-to-me waterfall walk
3. A backyard marshmallow roasting extravaganza
4. Quiet solo moments in front of the fire

Blood sugars are often a hot topic in the health world, and nutrition info can be overwhelming and confusing!

But it doesn't need to be complicated. Simple additions can help to keep you feeling satisfied all day long, without those swings and dips in energy or mood (that can leave you feeling "hangry" as you stomp past your family to shove some crackers or biscuits into your mouth while you decide what to eat).

Join me to talk all about supporting healthy blood sugars at an IRL workshop here in Auckland.

At the to learn all about Nature's Pharmacy and the medicinal plants that grow all around us and are ready for a midsummer harvest!

In this interactive 2 hr workshop, we will get up close and personal with at least 5 different medicinal plants that grow easily in the Auckland region.

We will go over:

* what parts of the plant we use

FREE PLANT WALKS IN TĀMAKI MAKAURAU!!

Y'all I am absolutely delighted to be partnering with the to run a series of workshops where we explore medicinal plants of the season.

In this first one we will play with and learn about spring plants.

When: Saturday 18th Oct, 10am-12pm
Where: Auckland Botanic Gardens, 102 Hill Rd Manurewa
Cost: Free!!

We will go over 4-5 different plants that are easily available and ready to harvest and use in spring.

You will learn:
- how to safely identify these plants
- how to harvest sustainably, and what parts of the plants you can use
- what you can do with these plants - how to prepare and use them
- how to find them or grow them in your own backyard or balcony
