Another one of our 20 for 20 community initiatives brought Eastside Audiology & Rehabilitation to the Saskatchewan Diabetes Education Day as both an exhibitor and sponsor.

Many people are surprised to learn that diabetes can impact more than blood sugar — it can also affect hearing and balance.

👂 How can diabetes affect your ears?
• Diabetes can damage the small blood vessels of the inner ear and vestibular system
• It may interfere with how hearing and balance signals travel to the brain
• Hearing loss is more common in people living with diabetes
• Vestibular damage can increase the risk of dizziness and falls

Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to meet healthcare professionals from across Saskatchewan, share emerging hearing and balance research, and discuss the importance of including hearing health in chronic disease management.

Conversations like these are exactly why our 20 for 20 initiative matters — building awareness, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, and helping more people understand that hearing health is connected to overall wellness.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and took the time to learn more. 💚

Tonight, we had the privilege of hosting an incredible interdisciplinary concussion collaborative group at Eastside Audiology & Rehabilitation.

What stood out most was the shared commitment in the room: clinicians from multiple disciplines coming together with one common goal — improving outcomes for people living with concussion and persistent post-concussion symptoms.

Concussion care is evolving.

We are moving beyond “wait and see” approaches and continuing to explore more comprehensive assessment pathways, better symptom identification, and innovative rehabilitation strategies that acknowledge how complex brain injury recovery can truly be.

From auditory and vestibular processing, to cognition, vision, balance, autonomic regulation, tinnitus, sound sensitivity, and return-to-play/work considerations — these conversations matter.

Most importantly, they give patients hope.

Hope that persistent symptoms are real.
Hope that recovery barriers can be identified.
Hope that collaborative care can improve quality of life.

We are grateful to be surrounded by passionate professionals who are committed to raising the bar in concussion care and continuing to push standards forward through collaboration, education, and innovation.

The future of concussion care is interdisciplinary. And that future is already taking shape.

We at Eastside sometimes appear to be so focused on challenging things like Pediatrics, Tinnitus, Auditory Processing, Auditory Brainstem Response testing, etc. that people forget we are darn good (if we do say so ourselves 😉) at prescribing hearing aids. Then we get a video review from one of our patients reminding us that we make differences in the day-to-day things as well!

Thanks again Paul! In the doldrums of February, this was very much appreciated 😊
