Skin cancer is highly treatable when caught early, and one of the best things you can do is regularly check your own skin. Once a month, take a close look and watch for these warning signs:
A - Asymmetry: The two halves of a mole don’t match
B - Borders: Edges are uneven, scalloped, or notched
C - Colour: Multiple shades; brown, red, white, blue, or black
D - Diameter: Larger than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser)
E - Evolution: Any change in size, shape, colour, or a new symptom like bleeding or itching
Melanoma accounts for only about 5% of skin cancers - but it is the most serious. Early detection truly saves lives. If something looks different or feels off, don’t wait.
