Skin cancer is highly treatable when caught early, and one of the best things you can do is regularly check your own skin. Once a month, take a close look and watch for these warning signs:
A - Asymmetry: The two halves of a mole don’t match
B - Borders: Edges are uneven, scalloped, or notched
C - Colour: Multiple shades; brown, red, white, blue, or black
D - Diameter: Larger than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser)
E - Evolution: Any change in size, shape, colour, or a new symptom like bleeding or itching
Melanoma accounts for only about 5% of skin cancers - but it is the most serious. Early detection truly saves lives. If something looks different or feels off, don’t wait.

World Asthma Day is observed on the first Tuesday of May each year. Over 3.8 million Canadians live with asthma, and more than 2 million of them are living with it uncontrolled.
Ask yourself:
• Do you frequently cough or wheeze?
• Does asthma disrupt your sleep?
• Are you using your inhaler more than twice a week?
If you answered yes to any of these, your asthma may not be well managed. With the right care and a personalized plan, asthma is controllable.
👉 Speak with a healthcare provider about your symptoms. Early intervention improves quality of life.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Canada, making up about one third of all new cancer diagnoses each year, and most cases are preventable.
UV radiation from the sun and tanning equipment damages skin cells over time and can lead to serious complications. The three main types are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma — with melanoma being the most dangerous.
Protect yourself by:
• Wearing protective clothing and SPF 30+ sunscreen daily
• Limiting sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
• Examining your skin monthly for unusual changes
👉 If you notice any new or changing spots on your skin, speak with your healthcare provider promptly.

Mental health is a basic human right, yet more than one billion people globally are living with a mental health condition. In Canada, many individuals face challenges without ever accessing the support they need.
Mental well-being is shaped by a combination of factors including personal relationships, life experiences, stress, and access to care. Risk factors like trauma, isolation, and financial pressure can take a real toll, while strong social connections and professional support can make a meaningful difference.
You do not have to navigate it alone.
👉 If you or someone you know is struggling, reaching out to a healthcare provider is the most important first step.

This April, we are moving beyond simple awareness and toward active acceptance. While awareness recognizes that Autism exists, acceptance means building a world where neurodivergent individuals are fully supported, accommodated, and valued. 🌍🤝

Did you know? The shift toward the "Neurodiversity Paradigm" views autism as a difference in processing rather than a deficit that needs "fixing." This month, we encourage everyone to learn more about how we can adapt our environments not the people in them to be more inclusive.

Colon cancer begins in the colon, the first and longest part of the large intestine. It often develops from small growths called polyps that form in the lining of the colon. While many polyps are harmless, some can slowly develop into cancer over time.
In its early stages, colon cancer may not cause noticeable symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they may include changes in bowel habits, blood in the stool, persistent abdominal discomfort, fatigue, or unexplained weight loss
👉 Seek medical attention if you notice persistent digestive changes, blood in the stool, ongoing abdominal pain, or unexplained weight loss.

• Avoiding to***co and limiting excess salt
