We are proud to share that one of our Hamilton Village residents, Mr. Gary Burner, a veteran who served from 1952–1956 and 1958–1984 in Korea, the Congo, Egypt, and Cyprus, is being featured in Richmond’s street banner program honouring local veterans and recognizing their service and sacrifices.

The program, launched by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 291 in partnership with the City of Richmond, honours 114 local veterans. Gary’s banner features his photo, name, years of service, and military branch.

The banners are displayed on light posts along No. 3 Road and Granville Avenue near Richmond City Hall from October 1 to December 1 over the next three years.

We are honoured to see Gary recognized for his dedicated service and proud to celebrate his story as a valued member of our Hamilton Village community. 🫡

Yesterday, Hamilton Village commemorated National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

It was a meaningful opportunity for us to pause and remember the painful experiences and injustices that Indigenous peoples and communities have endured in the past, including the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

At the same time, reconciliation is also about looking forward. It is about recognizing the progress we have made, continuing to learn from the past, and working together to build a future rooted in respect, understanding, inclusion, and stronger relationships with Indigenous peoples.

Thank you to everyone at Hamilton Village who took the time to reflect, learn, and participate in this important day. May we continue carrying these lessons with us not only on September 30, but throughout the year. 🧡

Our 2026 Wellness Fair: Fall into Wellness: Harvest Your Health! was a celebration of healthy living, fresh food, community, and FUN! 💚

We loved showcasing our very own homegrown goodness! Huge thanks to Andrea, our Social Worker, for harvesting pumpkins from our garden, which Praneel, our Maintenance Manager, turned into delicious pumpkin curry. And thank you to Sean and our Kitchen Team for harvesting fresh greens from our Babylon Farm and creating our Build Your Own Salad Bar! 🥗🌱

A huge THANK YOU to our community partners and featured sponsors—Ears To You, Dr. Johnny’s, HME, Radius Fire Protection, Richmond Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre Pam Huggan, our foot care nurse, and Happy At Home Caregiving Services Ltd. for helping make it all possible! 💚

Rain or shine, the show must go on! The rain couldn’t stop us from having an amazing day!

Our residents and families enjoyed delicious food, exciting games, face painting, balloon twisters, and a magical visit from the Bubble Fairy! 🫧

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all the families who generously donated and helped make this special event possible. Your kindness and support mean so much to our Hamilton Village community. 💕🙏

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our amazing volunteers and practicum students for working alongside the HV team and helping facilitate the event. As part of our annual emergency preparedness training, Hamilton Village Care Centre recently completed our Code Green (Evacuation Drill) to ensure our staff and residents are prepared should we ever need to safely evacuate an area, a floor, or the entire building.

We are fortunate to have Evac+Chair technology, which allows our team to safely and efficiently evacuate residents from upper floors using the stairwells when elevators cannot be used during an emergency.

We are also grateful to be located near two fire halls, one in Richmond and one in New Westminster, providing us with quick access to emergency response when needed.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our staff, residents, and everyone who participated in making this important training a success. Being prepared today helps keep our community safe tomorrow. 🔥👨‍🚒🚒

Yesterday, we gathered for our Celebration of Life, surrounded by residents, staff, and the families who have become part of the Hamilton Village community.

One moment that truly touched our hearts was hearing from the Maclean family. They shared that when friends out in the community talked about the difficult decision of "placing their parents in a care home," that wasn't their experience at Hamilton Village. Instead, they said that when both of their parents moved into Hamilton Village, they were able to become sons and daughters again, not caregivers carrying the constant weight of worry and responsibility. They could simply spend quality time together and cherish every visit.

That is the vision of Hamilton Village.

There is no greater compliment than knowing we can provide peace of mind and help families rediscover the joy of simply being family.

Thank you to the Maclean family for sharing your story, and thank you to every family who entrusts us with the privilege of caring for your loved ones. ❤️

🚢🌊 Ahoy, residents! Welcome aboard the Hamilton Village Cruise Line! ☀️⚓

Many of our residents spent their younger years exploring the world, creating memories, and discovering new places. We wanted to continue bringing that sense of adventure and travel to them, no matter what stage of life they are in today.

On July 17, 2026, our residents boarded our very own cruise ship for a special summer voyage From the captain’s welcome to the onboard activities, everyone enjoyed a day of cruising without ever leaving home! Special thanks to our performer Ronnie Scott Iconic Tributes! 🛳️💙

Today, our Recreation and Rehab Team rolled up their sleeves to give residents' wheelchairs and walkers the full Speedwash treatment from soap, rinse, and shine to a final polish! 🧽🫧✨

Keeping mobility equipment clean is about more than appearance. Regular cleaning helps maintain the condition of wheelchairs and walkers, supports infection prevention efforts, and allows us to identify any maintenance concerns early, helping ensure residents continue to use safe, clean, and well-functioning equipment.

A heartfelt thank you to our residents, families, and staff for supporting this fundraiser. Your generosity helps the Resident Council continue to provide meaningful programs and special events that enhance the lives of everyone at Hamilton Village. ❤️

Kudos to our Recreation and Rehab Team for a job well done! Special thanks to our Maintenance Manager who set up our speedwash stations. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!
