Meet Natasha. As a busy professional, staying active is a huge part of her life. But when she tried to get back into her fitness routine, her body wasn't reacting the way it used to.

By working with a chiropractor who truly understands her body and her lifestyle, Natasha was able to get back to doing what she loves most.

Chiropractic care isn't just about pain, it’s about empowering lifelong movement!

Today marks National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time for us to honour the heritage and diverse cultures of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. As healthcare providers, we recognize the importance of culturally safe care and the role we play in the ongoing journey of reconciliation.

At the BCCA, we respectfully acknowledge that our members and staff, live, work, and provide care on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of Indigenous Peoples. We remain committed to truth and reconciliation through ongoing learning, respect, collaboration, and shared responsibility for the land and its peoples.

What can you do to engage meaningfully today?

Acknowledge: Recognize the Indigenous territory of your practice.

Advocate: Support Indigenous rights and health equity in our province.

Engage: Participate in community events that celebrate Indigenous excellence.

Educate: Seek out resources to better understand Indigenous histories and current perspectives in healthcare.

Sustain: Support Indigenous entrepreneurs and creators in your local area.

The BCCA is committed to a future of respect, learning, and equity.

There are many meaningful ways to get involved, how are you participating today?

Advocacy in Action!

Thank you to our members, Dr. Stephanie Bonn and Dr. Beverley Steinhoff, who recently met with Terry Yung, MLA for Vancouver–Yaletown, to discuss the important role chiropractors play in supporting the health and wellbeing of British Columbians.

These meetings help us push for meaningful policy changes that improve patient care, including:

• Direct referral access for diagnostic imaging under MSP

• Expanding scope to include needle stimulation

We’re grateful to the members who take the time to connect with their local representatives and share their expertise. Every conversation helps move us toward a stronger, more accessible healthcare system for all.

Interested in advocating for the profession? Our Advocacy Toolkit includes contact resources, email templates, and ready-to-use graphics to help you connect with your MLA.

This Pride Month, we stand in solidarity with our 2SLGBTQIA+ members, patients, and allies across the province. As healthcare providers and as a collective organization, we remain deeply committed to fostering inclusive care and building a healthcare system where every individual is seen, heard, and respected. Pride is more than a celebration; it is a movement rooted in advocacy.

Together, we are building a future of respect, inclusion, and health for every body.

Happy Pride!

Think you need a doctor’s note before visiting a chiropractor? Think again!

In British Columbia, chiropractors are primary contact providers. This means you have the freedom to manage your physical health without waiting for a referral. Whether you’re dealing with a recent sports injury, a persistent ache, or just want to prioritize your mobility, you can book an appointment directly with a local chiropractor.

Why this matters:

Faster Access: Get the care you need, when you need it.

Direct Booking: Most clinics offer easy online booking for your convenience.

Coverage: Many extended benefits plans include chiropractic care, often with direct billing options.

Empowering lifelong movement starts with making care accessible.

Meet Amy Bennett, a personal trainer who sees the power of working as a care team. When a client faces an injury or a physical hurdle, the best results happen when experts work hand-in-hand.

In this video, Amy shares how she collaborates with chiropractors to:

✅ Tailor workouts based on specific clinical recommendations.
✅ Support recovery so clients can get stronger and return to their everyday lives.
✅ Empower lifelong movement by knowing when to refer to another provider

"They fix them, they build them back up, and then we train them again." It’s all about the team behind the athlete (and the everyday mover!).
