10 Days Until the 2026 Great British Columbia ShakeOut
The countdown is on. The 2026 Great British Columbia ShakeOut takes place on October 15 at 10:15 a.m., bringing workplaces, schools, organizations, families, and communities across British Columbia together for one of the province’s largest earthquake preparedness drills.
With only 10 days remaining, now is the time to register your organization and review your earthquake emergency procedures.
Last year, nearly 868,000 people across British Columbia participated in the Great BC ShakeOut. This year, organizers are working toward an even bigger milestone - more than one million participants across the province.
Practice Drop, Cover and Hold On
The Great British Columbia ShakeOut gives participants an opportunity to practice Drop, Cover and Hold On, the recommended action to take when earthquake shaking begins.
Participating in the drill is also a valuable reminder for BC workplaces to review their overall emergency preparedness plans, first aid supplies, emergency kits and response procedures before an actual emergency occurs.
