Can you guess what this is for?

A shout-out to John Porter, a friend and handy fellow who understood exactly what I needed and created it for me!
True, it's not exactly pretty, but in this case, function was required over form. It has already been up for a month, and the ceiling is so high, I'm not sure anyone has even noticed it!
It is perfectly suited for its function, and I am delighted. Thank you John! 😊🎉

And an overdue shout-out as well to , who made these curtains for me way back in the summer of 2021. These have perfect function and beautiful form. Thank you Donalda! 😊💯

If you've been at classes in the studio over the last few weeks, you'll have had this view (pic 1) instead of the usual view of the sky, trees, and lake (pic 2).
The sun, though welcome and warm in the spring, can shine directly into your eyes, making it hard to see and, if you are light sensitive, give you a headache. So, on sunny days, I move the front of the room away from the sun and dream of a better solution.

A generous gift of time, talent, and friendship is turning that dream into reality. Soon custom curtains will be on duty to shade the room when the sun is too bright.

I am so excited!

The remaining photos show the progression from fabric to curtains: a rod pocket to start, getting a feel for what's possible, adding a second panel (because you can't buy fabric wide enough), installing grommets for better flow and movement, mapping out the angle and experimenting with folds to create volume...
These custom beauties are going to be great!
