Common Sense Defense for Women

Common Sense Defense for Women Teaching a Common Sense approach to women's self-defense—practical, effective, and empowering strategies to stay safe. 💪 LOL. Just kidding.

Recently retired from RCMP after 15 years. Born and raised in PEI. Four sisters and one brother so I got beat up a lot growing up. My Mom is my role model and rock. I have wanted to do this course since I started at Depot and can now put my complete focus and attention in helping women feel more confident and free from worry.

TWEENS & TEENS

This poster is a reminder that asking for help is not weakness.

Whether you're dealing with bullying, peer pressure, anxiety, a relationship problem, or something that just doesn't feel right, you don't have to carry it alone.

Talk to a parent, teacher, coach, guidance counsellor, family member, or another trusted adult.

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is ask for help.

You matter. People care. And there is always someone willing to listen.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

TWEENS & TEENS

This poster is about standing by your decisions.

Maybe your friends want you to go somewhere, do something, drink something, or take part in something that doesn't feel right to you.

It's okay to say no.

The right friends won't pressure you, guilt you, or make fun of you for it.

Real friends respect your choices.

Real friends respect your boundaries.

Pressure isn't friendship.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

TWEENS & TEENS

This poster is about peer pressure.

A real friend respects your decisions.

A real friend respects your boundaries.

A real friend respects the word "no."

If someone keeps pressuring you after you've said no, that's not friendship.

Pressure isn't friendship.

Respect is.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

TWEENS & TEENS

This poster is about asking for help.

Too many young people think they have to handle everything on their own.

They don't.

Whether it's bullying, peer pressure, relationship problems, online issues, or something that just doesn't feel right, talk to someone you trust.

A parent.

A teacher.

A coach.

A family member.

A trusted adult.

Asking for help isn't weakness.

It's strength.

You don't have to handle it alone.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

TWEENS & TEENS

This poster is about something every young person needs to hear.

Other people's words do not define who you are.

Not a bully.

Not a classmate.

Not someone online.

Not someone hiding behind a screen.

You are worth more than someone else's opinion.

Learn when to ignore it.

Learn when to block it.

And never let someone else's words determine your value.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

TWEENS & TEENS

This poster is about boundaries.

Real friends respect the word "no."

They don't pressure you, guilt you, or make fun of you for standing up for yourself.

If someone keeps pushing after you've said no, they're not respecting your boundary.

And that's something you should pay attention to.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

TWEENS & TEENS

One of the most powerful safety tools you already have is your voice.

You don't need to know self-defense techniques to say:

"No."

"Stop."

"Back up."

"I said no."

Your voice can create time.

Your voice can create distance.

And your voice can attract attention.

Too many young people worry about being loud, being rude, or embarrassing someone.

I teach the opposite.

If something feels wrong, use your voice.

Speak clearly.

Speak confidently.

And don't be afraid to make a scene.

Your safety is more important than someone else's feelings.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

TWEENS & TEENS

This poster is about teaching young people that their safety comes before someone else's feelings.

If something feels wrong, trust your instincts.

Use your voice.

Create distance.

Get help.

Being polite is good.

Being safe is better.

Not me. Not today. Not ever!

Ladies, when you pull into a gas station, do you take the first available pump?

Most people do.

But if you had a choice, which pump would you choose?

The one closest to the store?
The one furthest away?
An end pump?
A middle pump?

What's your answer?

Ladies,

If you've taken one of my courses before, you know that we discuss some pretty serious subjects. Many of those topics are designed for women and may not be appropriate for younger children.

Over the past few weeks, I've had several moms reach out asking if I would consider teaching youth in the 10–15 age range. I've been asked about daughters, sons, and pre-teens who are starting to gain more independence and face challenges that many of us didn't have growing up.

And yes, you read that correctly. I would be open to teaching both young ladies and young men in this age group.

This would not be the same course that I teach adult women.

The scenarios, discussions, and lessons would be built specifically around what youth are facing today, including:

• Bullying and cyberbullying
• Peer pressure
• Online safety
• Personal boundaries
• Situational awareness
• Walking to and from school or the bus stop
• Bike safety and independence
• Trusting their instincts
• What to do when something doesn't feel right

Before I move forward, I'd like to host a FREE information session for parents and youth.

The goal would be to sit down together for about 1½ to 2 hours, discuss your concerns, hear directly from the kids, and determine what topics are most important to your family.

From there, I can build a course specifically around the real concerns that today's youth and parents are facing.

If this is something you would be interested in attending, please comment below or send me a private message.

I'm simply trying to gauge interest at this point.
