Stable Minds is at West Central School this evening and we've posted two questions for students and their families. Let's keep the conversation going and hear from our wider community.

✨ What's something nobody sees you carrying?

✨ What do you wish parents understood about kids?

Comment or message your answer and I'll add it to our Real Talk Wall throughout the evening.

Celina grew up in a small town surrounded by strong, hardworking individuals. She has seen firsthand the effects of struggling silently while appearing “fine” to everyone around them—within community members, families, and the people who are often the first to show up for others.

At Stable Minds, we want everyone to know they are welcome here.

The athlete everyone assumes is doing just fine.
The youth who learned hard farm work before they learned how to ask for help.
The student who always appears to have it together.
The family attending every event with smiles on their faces.

Stable Minds wants to break the stigma that someone needs to be visibly falling apart to deserve counselling—or that their struggles need to be seen by everyone else before they are considered “serious enough.”

We understand that in a small town, privacy matters. Reaching out can feel uncomfortable, vulnerable, and even intimidating.

That is why Stable Minds values communication, professionalism, privacy, and strong boundaries—so counselling can feel safe, respectful, and accessible for everyone.

Even you.

Motherhood can hold so many things at once—love, joy, exhaustion, worry, pride, and sacrifice.

Today we celebrate the mothers, caregivers, grandmothers, stepmoms, and mother figures doing their best every single day.

You are appreciated more than you know. 💛🌿

Today is a day of remembrance, reflection, and honour.

We wear red for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2Spirit+ people whose lives mattered deeply and whose absence continues to be felt by families and communities across this country.

These are not just stories we hear—they are truths carried in our communities, in families, and in our hearts.

Healing begins with truth, connection, and making space for conversations that are often painful—but necessary.

Today we remember.
Today we honour.
Today we stand together.

As a parent of two little ones, I understand this more and more every day.

However, it should not have to be parents supporting parents alone.

Maternal mental health is a conversation that needs to happen more often—openly, honestly, and without judgment.

At Stable Minds, we work with youth and young adults, which means we are also here to support parents in navigating hard conversations with their children. Together, we can address barriers and challenges that may be affecting the family unit.

Stable Minds helps families find balance, rebuild connection, and create hope—even when it feels like all hope is lost.

You do not have to carry it alone.

Stable Minds is starting a new thread:
Real Conversations.
There is vulnerability in sharing, speaking openly, and reflecting within yourself. It takes courage to speak up, but when we join others in conversation, it can take some of the pressure off of speaking alone.
So, let’s have a conversation together.

Celina Leek is the owner and founder of Stable Minds. She is a Certified Child and Youth Care Counsellor with over eight years of frontline experience supporting youth, young adults, and families navigating complex life challenges. Celina is a registered member of the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta and a member of the Alberta Counselling Therapy Association.

Throughout her career, Celina has worked closely with youth and families facing a range of challenges including school difficulties, justice involvement, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), trauma, emotional regulation concerns, and co-occurring diagnoses. Her approach is grounded in trauma-informed practice, neurodevelopmental understanding, and practical skill development that supports young people in building stability, confidence, and the tools needed to move forward in their lives and communities.

Celina also facilitates Equine Assisted Learning programs through her certification with Equine Connection. These programs provide structured opportunities for individuals and organizations to develop leadership, communication, accountability, and personal development skills through guided interaction with horses. By combining professional counselling experience with equine assisted programming, Celina is able to offer unique opportunities for growth that support both personal development and leadership capacity.

Celina grew up on an equine farm in Saskatchewan where she was actively involved in rodeo and horse showing. Her lifelong connection to horses, combined with her professional experience in child and youth care, led to the creation of Stable Minds. Her vision is to provide meaningful opportunities for youth, individuals, and organizations to build stronger minds and develop the skills needed to contribute positively within their communities.

Through counselling and equine assisted programs, Celina is passionate about helping people develop resilience, practical life skills, and the confidence to move forward with strength and purpose.

Let’s be honest—
a lot of teens don’t want counselling.

They don’t want to sit and talk about feelings.
They don’t trust it.
And most of the time, they’re being told to go—not choosing it.

So yeah… they shut down.

That doesn’t mean they don’t need support.

It just means the approach has to be different.

I work with youth who:

* don’t talk much
* have anger or behaviour stuff going on
* push back against everything
* or have been labelled “difficult”

No pressure. No forcing it. No pretending it’s easy.

Just real, at their pace.

If that sounds like a kid you know, Stable Minds is here.
