Hi all!
Finally!!! No more prescriptions need to book a massage appointment. The massage associations have been working over time to advocate for this with the Alberta government so that you may have access to treatment without having to get a written referral.

We are back in business, and I look forward to seeing you all! My current schedule is listed below.

Hello family and friends of A New Dawn Therapeutic Massage,

I hope you enjoyed the holidays and are ready to take on 2021!

The current restrictions put in place by the Alberta government and AHS remains in place for the time being. All patients being treated by massage therapists are required to have a current prescription signed in the last 12 months, which can be signed by the following:

- doctor
- nurse
- physiotherapist
- chiropractor
- acupuncturist
- psychologist
- dentist

The link below is a copy of a form you can print out and bring to any of the above professionals to have signed as a referral letter.

The Babylon Telus Health App is a great option for those who do not have a regular care provider. https://www.babylonhealth.com/ca

If you have a current prescription but do not have a paper copy, you may be able to access one through your benefit provider. Check your online account or call to have a copy sent to you.

I have opened up my online booking once again. If you chose to book online, please text or email me how you will be providing the referral letter. You can either scan and email it, screen shot a picture and text, or bring it to your appointment. I will be attaching it to your file.

Hello family and friends of A New Dawn Therapeutic Massage,

I hope this holiday season continues to find you all in good health.

You may or may not have heard that massage is allowed to resume practice, but under specific and stringent conditions.

The Alberta government and AHS had been in talks with massage associations and it was agreed that only individuals that have a current prescription (signed in the last 12 months) for massage may attend appointments at this time. Massage therapists are now required to have a current copy on file.

Do I have a prescription all ready?
Many of you do. It is a requirement with many, but not all, benefit providers to have a prescription to be able to direct bill for massage.

Where can I get a copy of my prescription?
Until now, I have not needed the prescription for your file, it was only for direct billing purposes and it was the benefit providers that asked for a copy. If you do not have a paper copy at this time, but you obtained one in the last 12 months, your provider may have it on file. You may be able to access it on line if you are set up with an on line account with your provider, or call your benefit provider and ask them to provide you with a copy.

What if I don't have a current prescription?
You can now obtain a prescription for massage from any registered health care provider, including doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, nurses, psychologists or dentists. I have provided a link below for a document that you can print off to make the process easier:

It has not been made clear at this time when this restriction will be lifted. I understand the holidays are poor timing to have to run out and get a prescription, so that nurse in the family may become very popular!

I will not be taking appointments right now through my on line booking page, as I am unclear as to how my schedule will look moving forward. If you currently have an appointment booked, I will get in touch with you to see if you have had the opportunity to obtain a prescription. If you have been able to get one, please feel free to forward it to me via email or a screen shot via text message.

Hello family and friends of A New Dawn Therapeutic Massage,

I hope this email continues to find you all in good health.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to pass on the announcement that the Government of Alberta has included massage therapy in yesterday's list of business restrictions. As much as we want to be part of the solution in the response to fighting Covid-19 and flattening the curve, we, as massage therapists consider ourselves a health profession, as apposed to a personal service and, therefore, essential. MTAA (Massage Therapists Association of Alberta), the association that I belong to, is advocating with the Alberta government to reinstate massage and have it listed as such. Unfortunately, we are still in the process of regulating the massage industry provincially, something that most provinces have already achieved and is why massage therapists are currently allowed to practice all over Canada, with the exception of Alberta.

Until we receive notice that we can resume our practices, I will be canceling all appointments after Dec 12, 2020. If you have an appointment already booked, you will receive a cancelation email. If we are not able to resume, I will sent out an email in early January with my availability.

Thus far, my week is fully booked and will not be taking any more appointments unless I receive any cancelations. If you wish to be contacted about my cancelation list, please feel free to respond to this email or text me at 780-668-7261.
