Some lessons I’ve learned from close to fifteen years of experiencing Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.

These reminders may seem simple, but they are a practice. You chose your own life. You have the power to create whatever you desire. I hope these lessons can be a reminder to you that healing takes time, we don’t have to heal everything all the time, to slow down and move with the energy, to breathe a little deeper, and to find peace in this life.

Qi & Tea Time

I’m starting a new series of videos that go a little deeper into principles and perspectives of Chinese medicine. I felt called to create these talks to connect with you all in a different, more meaningful way.

My hope with these talks is that it will shed light on how our bodies speak to us and how we can support them from a Chinese medicine perspective.

I also wanted to push myself to be seen and step out of my comfort zone! Growth can be uncomfortable, but it also feels good in the end.

Let me know your thoughts on this idea - whether you find it helpful, whether the video is too long, or anything else you want to mention.

And please leave a comment below with any topics you want to cover in the future! If you’ve ever had a question or a topic about Chinese medicine you didn’t understand, or if there’s a symptom or emotion you want to explore from this perspective as well.

I’m excited to see what we can create together. Thank you all for listening and supporting me.

May this season bring you health and happiness. 🌻

A solo weekend away.

How beautiful this weekend was, taking time away with myself. I remember going off to university and not being able to be with myself. It was the first time that I was alone, without family. It felt uncomfortable and foreign, and I struggled with being by myself. I was constantly looking for external stimulation to keep me busy or occupied so I wouldn’t have to sit with myself.

Now, spending time alone is something I cherish, something that brings me back to me. It can be hard looking internally at our patterns and deep core beliefs when we are alone. Wounds that have been buried deep within us, or emotions we haven’t dealt with yet can surface. It can feel uncomfortable or even painful.

But I’ve learned that if I can’t sit with myself and face the deepest parts of myself and love them, then how can anyone else?

I enjoy company and being with people, and I long for the day I have a family of my own where I can host dinner parties and sleep overs and celebrations! Connection is so important. Yet true connection starts from within. From connecting deeply with our own souls.

I now enjoy going to the movies by myself, or going out to dinner by myself, and even a whole weekend adventure by myself. Slowing down and pausing in life and allowing me to check back in with me - a reset of sorts.

I love people watching and observing how we are all connected through Source. I love connecting back with nature and feeling Mother Earth all around me. And I love seeing parts of history, such as old architecture and barns from the 1800s, where I can remind myself that there was life before me and there will be life after me.

So enjoy this present moment. Enjoy who you are. Do things that make you feel love and joy. Everything starts from within, so take a moment and ask yourself if you are truly connected to who you are inside. Self love and compassion is a practice.

Many blessings to you all!

As we move into Late Summer, the energy of the Earth awakens to harmonize ourselves as we move through this transition to Autumn.

The Earth element reminds us to come back home after an energetic summer. It invites us to slow down and check in with how we are doing.

What is consuming our thoughts?
How are we processing food and information?
Do we need more nourishment after the Yang of summer?
Do we feel supported and safe within ourselves?

The Earth element governs our digestive system: the Spleen and the Stomach. Eating foods that align with this time of harvest, such as sweet potato, squashes, pumpkins, rice, barley, and soups and stews, can support our Earth element.

The Earth element has a Spirit called the Yi, which governs our Mind. Supporting the Earth element can help support mental imbalances like poor memory, brain fog, fuzziness in the head, overthinking, or ruminating in thoughts. Be careful what, and how much, information you consume mentally. Take breaks from screens or studying to help support the mind. Mindfulness practices like meditation or mindfully doing tasks can help calm the over active mind and nourish the Yi.

Let’s connect with Mother Earth. In Chinese medicine, the Earth element is the archetype of the Mother. The element that is caring, nourishing, supporting, and grounding others. We can often expend our own energy taking care of others, and do not support ourselves enough. Take time to do things that nourish you. Come back to your centre with love and compassion. Give yourself grace in this world. Be gentle with yourself.

What a beautiful year it has been. One of adventure, new experiences, new beginnings, self development, growth, connection, and joy.

What I have learned from this year is the importance of presence. To be in the here and now. This life we have is too short to spend in the past or the future. And there is truly no other time than now.

Is life always going to be easy or how we think it should be? No. But I guarantee you that there are truly good moments to be grateful for everyday. The little things and the big things. I am finding that the more I am fully in the present moment, the more abundant life is.

I am proud of everything I have gone through and done this year. I feel myself blossoming into a higher self, developing and expanding into my purest energy. Connecting back deeply within to parts of myself that I have lost or hid away.

How blessed I am to have had another year in this world.

I am looking forward to this next year ahead and building upon this energy. I also look forward to building deeper relationships with all of you.

With love and light.

That Friday feelin’

Nothing like some facial acupuncture to support the skin and muscles of the face. Clearing away the tension of the week, and helping emotions soften. It’s important to give yourself the love and support you deserve.

Take time this weekend to do something that nourishes your heart and soul. Something that lights you up and makes you feel good. Refill your own cup.

A slow flow: to support the Yin during the Heat of Yang

Float the arms up
Float the arms down

To flow means to be effortless in movement. It is relational energy between you and the Qi that is all around you. Harmonizing your internal energy with the external energy. Think of a boat and a river: the boat can use the current to move forward without any energy or effort. Or think a sailboat using the wind to move forward.

The energy is already there. Tune in and use it to support the circulation and nourishment of the energy inside us.

This is a great flow to anchor any Heat from the summer - that “go go go” - helping us to prevent burning out.

Relax into this movement: mind and body. See if you are able to relax so much that your arms feel like they are moving through water. Being carried and supported by the energy around it.

Slow down and reconnect. With yourself, your mind, your heart, and your energetic field around you.
