NICOL, Ronald Alexander
1941 - 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Alexander Nicol at the NHS-St. Catharines Site on Sunday, July 19th, 2026, , in his 85th year.
Ron will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Eileen, of 63 years, and his two loving daughters, Sheryl (Kerry) McRoberts and Rhonda Brown. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Hipwell (2010) and Alexander Nicol (1954), as and by his sweet, beloved granddaughter, Riley Quait (2001).
He was the oldest sibling of seven: Norman (Terry), Allen (Pat), Doug (Wendy), Randy, Danny, and Sandra. His memory will be forever cherished by his dear grandchildren: Shae, Chelsea, Karissa, while not forgetting Damen and Julia, and his great-grandchildren, Eames and Charlotte. He will also be fondly remembered by many caring in-laws, nephews, nieces and extended family. Many thanks to a very special nephew, Stephen, and family who have been at his side throughout his declining health.
Throughout the years, Ron and Eileen shared a love for adventure, enjoying a multitude of travelling and camping experiences, always looking forward to their social gathering with the "Friday Nighters." Along the way he became affectionately nicknamed “RIPPIN RONNIE”. Following his retirement from General Motors, they became snowbirds, spending their winters at a special park in Bonita Springs, Florida, where they built an amazing community of friends and actively enjoyed many of the events at the park during their time there.
Above all, Ron’s main passion was his woodcarving club. He mastered incredible skills over the years, creating beautifully finished pieces that anyone would be proud to display and his family will forever cherish.
He is now at peace. We take comfort in knowing that his many close "buddies" who passed before him are welcoming him with open arms and a glass of cheer!
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the EMS responders and the professional, compassionate care team at the Niagara Health System during his final hours.
With love, farewell “Rippin Ronnie”, til we meet again. ❤️
In honouring Ron’s wishes private family arrangements have been made. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
