Today, we were honoured to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone: 100 years of service by the The Royal Canadian Legion.

We welcomed representatives from 11 Niagara Royal Canadian Legion branches, Ontario Command, veterans, and friends to recognize a century of service, advocacy, remembrance, and community impact.

For generations, the Royal Canadian Legion has supported veterans and their families while strengthening communities across Niagara and beyond. Here at Hotel Dieu Shaver, we are especially grateful for the support of local Legion branches and auxiliaries, whose generosity has contributed more than $400,000 toward patient care equipment that helps enhance recovery, comfort, and independence for our patients.

A special thank you to Veteran Peacekeeper Eric Jensen and his family for sharing their story and reminding us of the real impact that community support and compassionate care can have on people's lives.

As a small token of our appreciation, we were proud to unveil a commemorative brick in our Healing Garden, recognizing the Legion's years of friendship, generosity, and service.

Congratulations to the Royal Canadian Legion on this incredible milestone, and a special congratulations to Branch 24 as it celebrates its own 100th anniversary.

🍑 There’s nothing quite like peach season in Niagara!

A big thank you to our longtime friends at Seaway Farms, who stopped by HDS today with a generous donation of fresh Niagara peaches for our staff to enjoy.

Seaway Farms has been a wonderful supporter of Hotel Dieu Shaver for decades, regularly donating the beautiful flowers that brighten our hospital grounds and finding many other ways to show their support for our HDS community.

We’re incredibly grateful for their continued friendship and generosity — and for this very sweet taste of Niagara summer! 💙🍑
