Why do we do this to ourselves?
We’ll be completely exhausted… mentally, emotionally, physically… and still somehow convince ourselves we have no right to feel exhausted because “other people have it worse.”
Meanwhile we’re trying to hold together marriages, raise kids, pay bills, look after aging parents, survive work stress, keep up appearances, answer messages, carry grief quietly, worry about money, and somehow still be a functional human being through all of it.
With all life throws at us, it's little wonder we’re irritable, numb, anxious, disconnected, or feel like we’ve got nothing left to give.
Most of us would show compassion to another person in that situation almost immediately.
So why do we struggle to offer that same compassion to ourselves?
