🎉 Congratulations, Sophia Recovery Centre! 🎉

The members of 100 Women Who Care of Greater Saint John have selected Sophia Recovery Centre as the recipient of tonight’s collective donation.

💚 Sophia Recovery Centre will receive $22,000 to support their important work helping women overcome addiction and build lives rooted in recovery, connection, and hope.

Recovery takes courage. Community makes a difference.

Thank you to Julie Atkinson for sharing Sophia’s story with us this evening and for the incredible work your team does every day to support women throughout our region.

We would also like to thank Outflow and the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick for their thoughtful presentations and for the meaningful impact they continue to make in our community.

Tonight is a powerful reminder of what can happen when women come together with purpose.

Congratulations, Sophia Recovery Centre! We can’t wait to see the impact this gift will make. 💚

At Sophia, this is what care looks like, every single day. 💛

A newborn being cared for so a mom can rest.
A care package for someone starting over.
Connection over coffee in the kitchen.
Time in the garden, building calm and purpose.
Creative programs that support healing.

These moments may look small, but they are life changing.

Behind each one is a woman rebuilding her life, supported by a community that chooses to show up.

Today, we’re asking you to be part of that community.

👉 Your donation makes a direct impact:
• $100 supports a day of meals, care, and programming
• $200 provides peer support for a group of women for one day
• $500 provides 12 weeks of one on one mentorship

💛 Monthly giving options are also available.

Great books are better shared. 💛

Our Book Club brings you compelling reads plus thoughtful discussion questions, reader reflections, and resources to help you get more out of every page. This season, we’re reading Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine and it’s absolutely a page turner!

From our book club leader and board member, Julie Trites:
"Now that spring has finally sprung, I’ve even managed to sneak a few quiet moments outside with this month’s pick. Patio reading season is officially here… bring on summer!
I chose this novel for its tone. Stories that touch on trauma and substance use can feel heavy, and sometimes that is a lot to carry. As we move into brighter days, this story offers something special: it acknowledges the hard parts while still letting in light, warmth, and even laughter."

We were honoured to welcome one of our founders, Sister Mary Beth, to sit in on a recent staff meeting.

She shared a beautiful metaphor that stayed with us:
“The life of a person is like the life of a tree.” 🌳 A reminder of growth, resilience, and the passage of time; values that continue to guide our work every day.

Wishing everyone a wonderful long weekend and the unofficial start of summer! ☀️

Friendly reminder that we will be closed on Monday for the holiday.

Enjoy the extra day, take time to recharge, and we’ll see you soon!

Our Communications Manager, Amy Stewart, attended the State of Health Event 2026 with Lori Logue (Programming & Outreach at First Steps). Huge thanks to First Steps for the tickets! 💙

This year’s theme, Thinking Outside the Box, sparked meaningful conversations on workplace wellness, retention, and healthcare collaboration.

Highlights included:
• Dr. Jennifer Russell, who shared insights from her work in addiction and substance use care, and how businesses and healthcare can move forward together
• Dr. Jennifer Woodland, who emphasized the importance of implementation - bringing the right people together to turn knowledge into action (including collaboration with Sophia Recovery initiatives)
• Strong calls to focus on implementation over ideas across NB’s health system
• Community-based, collaborative care models that help people stay connected and supported close to home
• Encouraging progress in workforce recruitment, retention, and culture-building across NB healthcare

It was inspiring to hear so many strong voices working together toward healthier systems and healthier people.

Thank you The Saint John Region Chamber for hosting!

Mother’s Day can be many things.
A celebration. A remembering. A longing. A quiet win.

Recently our team reflected on the words from a mom in recovery. How meaningful it felt for her to no longer be dismissed, and instead be heard.

We honour the love, strength, and persistence that shape so many of our stories. Sending compassion and kindness to all, today and always. 🌷

It's Mental Health Week 💚

This year’s theme, "Come Together, Canada: Stronger Connections, Better Mental Health", shines a light on something we at Sophia believe in and practice every day. Social connection is essential to our well being.

Connection can look like checking in, showing up, listening without judgment, or simply sharing space with others. None of us are meant to do this alone.

At Sophia, we offer open house hours and many other programs designed to support connection. Check out this week’s calendar and drop by. You are always welcome.

is also inviting people to come together in communities across the province during Mental Health Week. Learn more and find a place to connect here.

Let’s come together for ourselves and for each other. 💚
