The Wolastoq Waves are welcoming Ketegaunseebee/Garden River First Nation knowledge keeper Frank Belleau to Wabanaki territory to share the knowledge of building the traditional lacrosse stick from the ash tree.

New this year, the Wolastoq Waves are partnering with the Woodstock Warriors to offer a fun and inclusive lacrosse event for Indigenous Youth and allies from ages 5-18. As part of a week of learning and fun to welcome the Founder's Cup, both local youth and volunteers can sign up below to register, or for more information. For this special event, we are inviting interested youth from across the province to join us in Menahqesk for an age-split, collaborative youth camp, including cultural components and teachings about the origins of the Medicine Game.

Beautiful growth in Menahqesk, Lisa Morris!!

๐ŸŒฑ Good morning, friends! ๐ŸŒฑ

Reminder PULSE is closed today. I'll (Lisa) be at the Rainbow Park Community Garden this morning at 10am working in the PULSE pantry plots, and I'd love some company if you'd like to get your hands dirty!

Today's garden adventures include cultivating a few plots, planting tomatoes, and (my favourite part!) planting the third sister in our Three Sisters garden. ๐ŸŒฝ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿซ˜

The corn and squash are already growing, and tucked in with them is a sunflower that one of the children from our Parent & Caregiver Chat gifted me. Today we'll be planting scarlet runner beans, which will climb the corn and sunflower while the squash spreads below. I love the story behind the Three Sisters planting, three plants working together and helping one another thrive. It feels like a pretty good reminder of what community looks like.

If you've been thinking about checking out the garden, today is a great day to stop by! No experience needed just bring yourself, and we'll grow a little food (and a little community) together.
