The need for skilled, compassionate support for adult survivors of sexual violence has never been greater.

Working in this space is meaningful and also complex. Survivors deserve care that is trauma-informed, grounded in evidence, and delivered with confidence and clarity. Too often, clinicians are expected to “figure it out” without the specialized tools and training this work truly requires.

We are offering focused training designed to support professionals working with adult survivors of sexual violence whether you are new to this area or looking to enhance your practice.

If you are committed to providing thoughtful, responsive care to survivors, we would love to have you join us.

For details or to register, please email Angie at [email protected].

Training is faciliated by Katina Feggos, M.Ed, LCT, RSW and Angie Power.

Family Plus is pleased to partner with Sexual Violence New Brunswick / Violence sexuelle Nouveau-Brunswick in hosting this training opportunity. If the link does not work, please contact Angie at [email protected] to register. Space is limited. Please register by May 15th 2026.

Mental Health Week runs from May 4 to 10 this year, and the message from the Canadian Mental Health Association is clear: Come Together, Canada.

It’s a simple idea, but one that feels especially timely right now. Even though it’s never been easier to stay in touch through texts, video calls, and social media, many people across Canada are feeling increasingly lonely. Being connected online doesn’t always translate into feeling connected in our daily lives.

According to Statistics Canada, people who rely only on virtual communication are more likely to experience loneliness. Nearly one in four, or 24 per cent, of those who connect only online say they feel lonely often or always. That number drops to 15 per cent for people who spend time connecting both in person and online.

The difference may seem small at first glance, but it points to something important: how we connect matters.

Seeing someone face to face, sharing space, and picking up on non-verbal cues all contribute to a deeper sense of connection than screens can offer.

Mental Health Week is a chance to reflect on the ways we connect and consider small changes that can make a difference.

The Come Together, Canada campaign encourages people to make time for real connection. That could mean inviting a friend for coffee, going for a walk with a family member, or attending a local community event. These everyday moments are essential to our mental health and well-being.

Parents, caregivers, and those who work with children and youth, if you haven’t watched the video "Childhood 2.0" we recommend you do it now. It is 1.5 hours long so find the time to watch it all.

This video contains topics related to su***de, self-harm and difficult topics around internet safety.

It explores what it means to grow up in a world shaped by smartphones, social media, gaming, and constant connectivity.

Through interviews with young people, parents, educators, and experts, it opens an honest conversation about anxiety, depression, cyberbullying, online exploitation, body image, and the very real pressures kids face every day online.

It challenges adults to better understand the digital environments young people are navigating and encourages proactive, informed conversations at home and in our communities.

This film is a strong reminder that digital literacy, open dialogue, and healthy boundaries are more important than ever.
