🦶 Fun Footcare Fact Friday 🦶

Your feet often show early signs of health problems before other parts of the body do.

Changes in colour, temperature, swelling, sensation, nail growth, or wounds that are slow to heal can sometimes point toward circulation issues, diabetes, nerve damage, or other medical conditions.

Your feet notice things before you do sometimes 👣

✨ One Year Later ✨

I figured it was probably time for a little reintroduction post… especially because it has officially been ONE YEAR since I stepped into the footcare side of nursing!

For those who are new here, hi! I’m Ashley 👋

I’m an LPN working full time at Jean Coutu on University Avenue, where I provide nursing footcare services. Before this adventure, I spent years working in geriatrics and other areas of nursing, and over the last year I have fallen in love with this completely different side of healthcare.

Outside of work, I’m a busy mom, fiancé, animal lover, country girl, and professional chaos coordinator 😂 We live out in the country with our kids and animals, and maybe someday my fiancé will finally agree to my dream hobby farm.

This past year has honestly exceeded anything I ever expected.

To my clients:
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your care. Some of you have been with me literally since my very first days, and some of you I’ve only met this past week. Every single appointment, recommendation, kind word, and shared post has helped this little business grow more than you know.

To my friends and family:
Thank you for constantly sharing my posts, recommending me, talking about my services, and cheering me on even when I’m stressing myself out over every little detail.

And a HUGE thank you to my boss Jared, for always believing in me and supporting every crazy idea I come up with… even while I’m actively driving you insane 😂

This past year has taught me so much, and I’m incredibly grateful for every single person who has been part of it.

Here’s to year 2! 🎉🎊

🦶 Fun Footcare Fact Friday 🦶

Most people cut their toenails too short without even realizing it.

Cutting nails too short or rounding the corners can increase your risk of painful ingrown toenails and infection.

Your toenails should generally be trimmed straight across, not curved down the sides.

to my clients:

the last couple weeks have been super hard on my little family. our sweet kitty Ralph was diagnosed with epilepsy and even with meds, the seizures began to worsen, and rapidly.
Monday evening I had to make the toughest decision of my life, to ensure he wouldn’t suffer.

he was the best companion to not only me, but my son as well🩵🐾

I have some unread messages that I have slowly been managing to respond to. please bare with me while my heart takes the rest it needs🫶

rest in peace my little soul kitty, Ralphie🫶

*edit to add- if you’re simply looking to book an appointment, my great friends in the pharmacy have no problem helping you out with that🩵

👷‍♂️ Attention construction workers, warehouse workers, mechanics, and anyone living in sweaty work boots all summer 👷‍♂️

We are officially entering “hot sweaty boot foot” season 😅

Long hours in work boots can lead to:
• Foot odour
• Athlete’s foot
• Excess sweating
• Fungal infections
• Cracked skin
• Irritation between toes

I carry Footlogix foot deodorant spray along with their shoe spray to help reduce odour-causing bacteria and freshen up both feet and footwear.

Your boots may have to work overtime… but your feet do not have to suffer

One thing I hear almost daily during appointments:

“I should have come sooner.”

A lot of people wait until:
• They can’t cut their nails anymore
• Their feet are painful
• Their nails are catching on socks
• Cracks are bleeding
• They’re embarrassed about how their feet look
• Or a family member finally forces them to book 😂

Please know there is absolutely zero judgement here.

I have seen it ALL, and my goal is simply to help you feel comfortable, safe, and cared for.

🦶 Fun Footcare Fact Friday 🦶

Your feet can actually change size over time.

Pregnancy, aging, weight changes, swelling, and even flattened arches can permanently change both the length and width of your feet.

If your shoes suddenly feel tighter than they used to… it may not just be the shoes 👀

💙 Insurance Coverage Reminder 💙

Many people are surprised to learn that nursing footcare may be covered under their insurance plan!

I am provider under BlueCross and a couple other major insurance companies. Should you check your coverage, you are looking for:

✔ Nursing Care Services
NOT podiatry.

Coverage varies depending on your individual plan, so I always recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm eligibility.

Current pricing:
Initial appointment: $90
Follow-up appointments: $65

Receipts are provided for insurance or tax purposes!

🍄 Toenail Fungus Treatment Talk 🍄

One of the products I often recommend in clinic is the Footlogix Nail Tincture for fungal or damaged toenails.

How it works:
The formula is designed to pe*****te the nail plate and target fungal environments while helping improve the overall appearance and condition of the nail over time.

How often should it be used?
Consistency is EVERYTHING. It should be applied exactly as directed, typically twice daily, and results take time. Nails grow very slowly, especially toenails, so improvement is usually gradual over several months.

Here’s the honest truth:
No product works if it sits in the cupboard 😉

The patients who see the best results are the ones who stay consistent with their “homework”:
✔ Using the product regularly
✔ Keeping feet dry
✔ Treating footwear
✔ Changing socks regularly
✔ Staying on top of routine footcare

There is no overnight fix for fungal nails, but with patience and consistency, improvement is absolutely possible.
