🐶🐱 Make an Ear Cytology With Us! 🐱🐶

Is your furry friend constantly scratching their ears, shaking their head, or just not acting like themselves? It could be more than just an itch! 🐾

An ear cytology is a quick, painless diagnostic test that helps us find the cause of your pet's ear problems. We gently swab the ear canal, place the sample on a glass slide, stain it, and examine it under a microscope to identify yeast, bacteria, parasites, or inflammatory cells—so we can recommend the best treatment for your pet!

🔬 With an ear cytology, we can identify:
🐾 Yeast
🦠 Bacteria
🔬 Rod-shaped bacteria
🕷️ Ear mites

🚩 Signs your pet may have an ear infection:
👂 Scratching at their ears
🤕 Frequent head shaking or head tilting
👃 A bad smell coming from the ears

🐱💖 Kitten Overload! 💖🐱

😻🐾 Just look at these adorable little beans! 🫘💕 We can't get enough of these sweet faces! These precious kittens came in for their very first FVRCP vaccine today, and they were absolutely purr-fect patients! 🩺🐈💉

The FVRCP vaccine is a vital core vaccine for kittens that helps protect them against three serious airborne diseases:
🐱 Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis
🐱 Calicivirus
🐱 Panleukopenia

Veterinarians recommend the FVRCP vaccine because these viruses are common and can stay in the environment for long periods, so most cats will be exposed to them. Because many communities have free-roaming cats, viruses can spread easily.
Cats kept indoors are also at risk because we can bring the virus into our homes on our clothing or shoes, or by adopting another cat.

Keeping your kitten vaccinated—even into adulthood—is one of the best ways to help them live a long, happy, and healthy life while staying protected against certain diseases. ❤️🐾

🩸 Make a Blood Smear With Us! 🔬

Have you ever wondered what a blood smear is? 🤔
A blood smear is a test where a thin layer of blood is spread across a glass slide so it can be examined under a microscope. 🔬 This allows us to closely evaluate red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, providing valuable information about a patient's health. 🩸✨

🔬 A well made blood smear consists of several areas: The feathered edge, the monolayer, and the body and base of the smear.

With a blood smear, we can look for: 👇

🐾Quantification of the different types of leukocytes (white blood cells), known as the differential count.
🐾Estimation of the platelet count.
🐾Detection of morphologic (shape and appearance) abnormalities that may indicate underlying diseases
🐾In some cases, the findings on a blood smear can make a diagnosis immediately evident. ✅

❗️Effective September 1, 2026, we will be changing our clinic hours to better suit the needs of our clients and our staff, our new hours will be:

🐾 Sunday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
🐾 Friday & Saturday: CLOSED

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support as we make this transition. We can't wait to continue caring for you and your furry family members during our new clinic hours! 🐶🐱❤️

Did you know that dogs dream just like we do? 💤💭🐾

If you've ever seen your pup twitching, kicking their little legs, wagging their tail, or heard them whimpering softly while they sleep, they're likely off in dreamland! 🌙🐕 They could be dreaming about chasing squirrels, playing fetch, enjoying treats, or spending time with their favourite humans. 🦴🎾❤️

🐱 Meet Storm! 🐱

Don't let this grumpy face fool you! 😾💕 Storm is a sweet 10-year-old girl owned by our amazing receptionist, Kat! She's been by Kat's side since she was just 7 weeks old, and she's been her loyal companion ever since. She even made the big trip from Calgary to Saint John riding shotgun in her very own booster seat! 🚗🐈
When she's not giving everyone her signature judgmental stare 👀😹, Storm loves nothing more than snuggling up with Kat and relaxing in the recliner together. 🛋️💖

A few fun facts about this adorable queen:
🐾 She loves to play fetch!
🐾 Hair ties are her absolute favorite toy.
🐾 Breakfast is serious business—she'll tap Kat right on the face to wake her up when it's time to eat! 😹
🐾 And in her spare time... she's busy judging everyone (it's a full-time job, after all!). 👑😼

Storm may look like she's plotting world domination, but underneath that grumpy little face is a loving cuddle bug with a heart of gold. 🥰🐱

🎀🐾 Meet Raven (left) and Blair (right), the two cutest sisters to come visit us at the clinic!! 🩷🐱

These adorable sisters may look alike, but they couldn't be more different! 😻💕 Raven wasted no time making herself right at home, curling up for the sweetest little catnap. 😴💗🐈 Meanwhile, Blair was on an important mission—carefully inspecting every corner and trying to figure out who these strange humans were that just had to take her picture! 👀📸🐾

We absolutely loved having these sweet girls with us! 💕 They filled our day with cuddles, curiosity, and plenty of smiles. 🥹🐱🌸 We can't wait to see them again for their booster vaccines and watch these adorable girls grow up! 🩺🌸🐾
