So What Exactly is Reiki Anyway?
Reiki can be reduced to just four simple things: All else is technicality and semantics. Remember, Reiki is universal and not split into different forms.
1 Healing Energy Channel.
2 Focus, Reiki Breathing.
3 Intent, the Symbols.
4 Release, Exhale
Focus and intent combine to keep us in the moment. All three are powered by compassion. The channel is there to keep you from using personal energy. Such is the intent of the attunements. The symbols are clear healing intent. Exhaling allows the intent to manifest in the physical by letting go. Chakras are intended to be points of reference.
So what is the purpose of the traditions? We need them. It is much too easy to believe that we know exactly where Reiki will do the most good. Direction is not up to us. This can lead to forgetting about the free energy channel and begin using personal energy.
Some people really don’t need the channel, focus, and intent but they are very rare. We hang on to the symbols by necessity, that is, until we get it. Everyone has to start somewhere.
So what can go wrong? In one word its ego. One can use Reiki as a means to show off or an excuse for just another fad. At that point, it breaks down.
Three levels of Reiki open the channel up to more tools and energy. That is the one difference that matters. Energies from different people may feel differently, but once again it is about focus, intent, and motivation. Those affect the feel of the energy. Your motivation, must always be compassion.
The bottom line about traditional Reiki and Takata Reiki is this: They are not two different types of Reiki. It is Reiki taught two different ways. There is only one energy defined as UNIVERSAL energy. Any differences are due to the style of who is using the energy. Unfortunately, while traditional Reiki has not changed, westernized Reiki has diverged wildly. By Carl Kowalski....
