Aspirin is quite literally named after the old botanical name for meadowsweet, Spiraea ulmaria. 🌿
The salicylates, aka the aspirin-like substances, which are found in this herb are used to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. While aspirin may cause gastric ulceration at higher doses, meadowsweet’s combination of salicylates and tannins act to protect the lining of the stomach and intestines. 🤯
Meadowsweet may be supportive for:
🤍 rheumatic muscle and joint pain
🤍 fevers
🤍 gut inflammation
🤍 acid reflux
🤍 IBS
🤍 gastric ulcers
🤍 diarrhea
So many of the p!lls we take are originally derived from plant constituents!!! 💊 Something to consider should you ever find yourself doubting the effectiveness of herbs. Before we had pharmacies, we had the forest and our gardens. 🌲🧝🏼♀️🌼🍄
