One of the perks of being the boss? I make the rules. 😉

While many businesses are closed today for Labour Day, I’m seeing clients because babies don’t follow business hours. ❤️ I had a baby during Christmas time years ago, I know the struggle of not finding available help.

As the owner of my lactation consulting practice, I get to choose when I’m available and provide support when families need it. And honestly, I love being able to offer help outside the typical 9–5 when finding support can be so difficult.

Breastfeeding support shouldn’t always have to wait until a traditional workweek. 🤱 💗

Happy Labour Day! And yes, I’m working today, because I want to. 😊

I need to share my excitement! I LOVE seeing breastfeeding and pumping show up in TV shows! 🥹🩷

I’m trying a new hobby of watching tv (I know how silly that sounds, but I don’t watch much tv)

But today’s episode of The Rookie had me smiling because there it was… breastfeeding and pumping being shown as just a normal part of life!!! 🤱💕

And honestly, this matters.

The more we see babies being breastfed, parents pumping, bottles of expressed milk, pumping at work, and parents figuring out how to continue feeding their babies while returning to work, the more NORMAL it becomes.

Because breastfeeding doesn’t magically stop when someone goes back to work.

Pumping at work is normal.
Breastfeeding before work is normal.
Pumping on a break is normal.
Bringing breastmilk home is normal.
Nursing your baby after a long day apart is normal.
Figuring out what works for your family is normal.

As a lactation consultant, I get so excited when media gets these everyday moments into the background of a storyline. It may seem like a tiny detail, but representation helps take away the idea that breastfeeding has to happen in some quiet, hidden corner of life.

Feed your baby. Pump your milk. Go to work. Come home and nurse. Do whatever works for YOU and your baby.

And please, TV writers… keep it coming. 😂🩷

Have you seen any shows you love who highlight and normalize breastfeeding and or pumping?? Let me know!

🤍 Help doesn’t always happen Monday to Friday.

The need for breastfeeding support doesn’t stop because it’s Sunday, a holiday, or 7:00 p.m.

I’m spending part of my Sunday doing some administration before heading out for a consultation this afternoon. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Because I remember being the mom who needed help.

My baby was born at Christmas time in 2013, and suddenly many of the places I thought I could turn to for support were closed or operating differently for the holidays. Public health and other services essentially pressed pause for two weeks.

But babies don’t press pause.
Breastfeeding doesn’t press pause.
And neither do the questions, worries, pain, tears or exhaustion that can come with it.

That experience stayed with me.

I decided I wanted to be part of the change.

To build a lactation support practice with more flexibility. To meet families where they are. To offer support when they actually need it, not just when it happens to fit within traditional office hours.

Because sometimes Sunday afternoon is when you finally realize you need help.

Sometimes it’s Christmas Eve.
Sometimes it’s after bedtime.
Sometimes it’s when you’ve been struggling for days and you’ve finally found the courage to reach out.

And you deserve support then, too. 🤍

I’m grateful that I get to be that person for families.

Let’s be Better Together.

🤝 Connection & Community Over Competition

One of the most important parts of caring for families is recognizing that we were never meant to do it alone. ❤️

When we connect with other professionals in our community, we create something so much bigger than any one of us could provide on our own.

Sometimes I’m caring for a family who also needs the expertise of a dentist experienced in assessing oral restrictions such as tongue and lip ties, a myofunctional therapist, a midwife, physician, dietitian, mental health professional, or another lactation consultant.

And that’s where the magic happens. ✨

We connect. We communicate. We collaborate. We refer. We support.

Because when we have patients and clients in common, our goal should never be “How do I keep this client?” It should be:

“What does this family need, and who can help provide it?”

There is room for all of us.

When we build relationships with other professionals, we help build a stronger village for the families we serve. And when parents have a village of knowledgeable, compassionate people surrounding them, they don’t have to navigate pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and parenthood alone.

Better Together isn’t just the name of my business.
It’s something I truly believe and have spent the last 6+ years building.

Let’s connect. Let’s share knowledge. Let’s support one another. And most importantly, let’s make sure the families in our communities have the village they deserve. ❤️

I love giving clients prenatal breast-feeding, education, and helping set them up for their best chance of success. A new mom needs knowledge support and inability to advocate for themselves and their baby in a world where a system isn’t always the most up-to-date, or support is minimal. Please reach out if you would like to have a personal breast-feeding class or if you’re looking for the perfect gift you can give someone a prenatal session.

🌿 Vacation Notice 🌿

After visiting my scheduled client this morning, I’ll be away enjoying a much-needed vacation with my family until Tuesday, August 4th.

After many months of working seven days a week, it’s time to slow down, recharge, and soak up some quality time with the people I love. ❤️

I’ll be back on August 4th, ready to support more families through prenatal breastfeeding classes, in-home consultations, and virtual visits. During my time away, I won’t be monitoring emails or phone calls regularly, and I’ll respond to all messages once I’m back in the office.

To all of the families I’ve had the privilege of supporting thus far, thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey.

I hope you are enjoying your summer. Treasure these moments with your babies and your families. The days can feel long, but they pass so quickly.

And remember… you can do hard things. One feed, one cuddle, one day at a time.

I can’t wait to reconnect with you all soon.

Let’s be Better Together, when I return. 💕
