Health Partners International of Canada

Health Partners International of Canada We work to increase the access to essential medicines and healthcare services to people living in vulnerable communities around the globe.

Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) is a humanitarian not-for-profit relief and development organization dedicated to improving access to medicine and enhancing health in the developing world. HPIC contributes to well-being by providing donated essential medicines, supplies and vaccines, building national health sector capacities, and responding to emergencies and health threats. We par

tner with a network of ministries of health, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and healthcare professionals, with pharmaceutical and healthcare product companies, and with Canadian government departments; and we count on the financial support of individual donors, foundations and corporations. Because of our unique model, HPIC multiplies every donated dollar to provide, without discrimination, at least $10 of free medical aid.

In Ein El Hilweh refugee camp in southern Lebanon, too many families are being forced to make heartbreaking choices just to survive. For people living with chronic illness, something as basic as medicine can feel out of reach.

Through HPICโ€™s partnership with United Palestinian Appeal - UPA, hope is reaching displaced people in the form of essential medicines and health-restoring products.

For patients in need, this support means more than treatment - it means relief, dignity, and hope for the future.

Together, HPIC and UPA are bringing health and hope to those who need it most.

๐ˆ๐ง ๐”๐ค๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ž, persistent shortages of medicines and medical supplies, limited public funding, growing pressure on the healthcare system, and the increasing needs of patients have made it difficult for many families to access the medicine and medical care they need.

One such family supported through this ongoing humanitarian initiative lives in the Kharkiv region, an area that has remained heavily affected by the war and regularly exposed to security threats. Due to the difficult security situation, displacement, and financial hardship, the parents are often unable to afford essential medicines and vitamins for their children. Even common seasonal illnesses or fever can create a significant financial burden for the household.

Through our partnership, the family received childrenโ€™s ibuprofen for the symptomatic relief of fever and pain, vitamins to support the childrenโ€™s daily vitamin intake, and naproxen for adult family members needing relief from inflammatory conditions and musculoskeletal pain.

These products helped the family respond promptly to common seasonal illnesses, reduced financial pressure on the household, and ensured that the children had access to essential health-supporting products. For this family, the assistance represented more than the medicines themselves - it also brought reassurance that, despite the hardships of war, the international community continues to stand alongside Ukrainian families in need.

Across 130+ countries, our approach to supporting breastfeeding combines education, community-based health promotion, and strengthened healthcare systems - ensuring mothers have the support and resources they need to successfully breastfeed their infants.

Here is how we are making an impact:

โœ…Educating mothers on exclusive breastfeeding:
Through community health projects, HPIC and local partners provide counselling on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, helping mothers understand proper feeding practices and infant nutrition.

โœ…Training frontline health workers:
We strengthen the capacity of nurses, midwives, community health workers, and volunteers so they can better support mothers with breastfeeding and other maternal and newborn health services.

โœ…Supporting maternal and newborn health programs:
HPIC's ๐–๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง'๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ง'๐ฌ ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก initiatives reduce maternal and child mortality by improving access to healthcare, increasing awareness of healthy practices, strengthening referral systems, and providing essential medicines and supplies. Breastfeeding support is woven into these broader efforts.

โœ…Providing direct support to new mothers:
For example In Kenya, HPIC's S.M.I.L.E.S. project supports mothers of underweight newborns through regular home visits and counsellingโ€”bringing care directly to families who need it most.

High maternal and child mortality persists in Kenya due to social, economic, and health system gaps that leave vulnerable families without access to care.

HPIC has partnered with Anglican Development Services - Kenya (ADS) through the Pamoja Project to strengthen maternal, newborn, and child health in some of the country's most underserved regions. This latest shipment of essential medicine and medical supplies will reach thousands of women and children. Together, we're delivering essential life-saving care where it's needed most.

Vulnerable people in rural Kenya will soon have access to life-saving medicine thanks to the incredible Medical Mission Team at Mully Children's Family (MFC) Canada.
A dedicated team of healthcare professionals and volunteers will carry more than 400 lbs of medicineโ€”packed into 9 portable Humanitarian Medical Kits (HMKs)โ€”to the remote Kenyan communities of Ndalani and Yatta for a free medical clinic.
Over 3,000 patients will receive care they couldn't otherwise afford. Many will travel 3-4 hours just to reach the clinic. Infections, hypertension, diabetes, malnutrition, inflammation, gastrointestinal issues, and moreโ€”will all be treated with the essential medications contained in our HMKs.
This is what partnership looks like. This is how compassion travels. This is medicine reaching the people who need it most. ๐Ÿ™ Thank you to for making this mission possible.
