The Shuswap Cardiac Society is pleased to be attending the Laugh and Learn tomorrow, June 15, at First United Church.

This free, drop-in event is designed to bring older adults together for an afternoon of connection, laughter, learning, and practical information. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet community organizations, access valuable resources, and enjoy time with friends and neighbours.

💔 We Need Your Help to Keep Cardiac Rehabilitation Alive in the Shuswap 💔

With only three weeks to go until our inaugural Walk the Beat fundraiser on June 27, we are still a long way from our fundraising goal of $25,000. To date, we have raised just a fraction of what is needed to keep this vital community service operating.

The Shuswap Cardiac Society is funded entirely through the generosity of private donors and community supporters. While we are actively pursuing government funding opportunities, we rely on fundraising events like Walk the Beat to bridge the gap and keep our doors open.

❤️ Why does this matter?

Every year, members of our community experience heart attacks, receive diagnoses of heart disease, or learn they are at risk for cardiovascular illness. The journey back to health can be overwhelming, but cardiac rehabilitation has been proven to reduce illness and save lives for years after completion.

Through the Thompson Okanagan Rehabilitation for Cardiac Health (T.O.R.C.H.) program, local residents have access to:
✔ Evidence-based cardiac rehabilitation
✔ Supervised exercise with a certified kinesiologist
✔ Education on heart health and recovery
✔ Support for both patients and caregivers
✔ A local program that removes the need to travel regularly to Kelowna or Kamloops

Before the Shuswap Cardiac Society was established, people recovering from cardiac events often faced hours of travel several times a week just to receive this level of care. Today, thanks to local cardiac rehabilitation, more people can participate, recover, and live healthier lives right here at home.

Join us for the Shuswap Cardiac Society's Walk the Beat on June 27, 2026 and help make a difference in the lives of those affected by heart disease and heart attacks.

The Shuswap Cardiac Society receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of donors and community supporters. Every dollar raised stays local and helps us continue providing valuable programs, education, and support for individuals and families impacted by heart disease.

Step out for your heart — and for our community. ❤️🚶‍♀️

Join the Shuswap Cardiac Society for our inaugural Walk the Beat on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the beautiful and iconic McGuire Lake Park in downtown Salmon Arm. This inspiring community fundraising event brings individuals, families, friends, coworkers, and teams together in support of heart health education, advocacy, and local cardiac patients throughout the Shuswap.

Participants will enjoy a scenic 5 km walk around McGuire Lake while helping strengthen cardiac rehabilitation services and heart health support in our region. Whether you walk at your own pace, join with loved ones, or create a team, Walk the Beat is a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community while supporting a great cause.

Registration is $25 per adult (19+) and $10 for youth 18 and under. Every registration helps the Shuswap Cardiac Society provide practical resources, education, connection, and support for individuals living with heart disease, while continuing to advocate for accessible local cardiac rehabilitation services.

The first 100 participants to register will receive an exclusive Shuswap Cardiac Society water bottle, and all registered participants will be entered into a draw to win an unforgettable Twin Anchors houseboat getaway valued at $6,459. 🚤

As the very first Walk the Beat, we hope this event will become a lasting annual tradition that celebrates community, wellness, and stronger cardiac care throughout the Shuswap. Together, we can make a difference — one step at a time.
