This morning, during National Rural Health Week, we officially broke ground on the Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital (CEEH) of Bluewater Health emergency department and diagnostic imaging redevelopment project, marking an exciting new chapter for rural healthcare in Petrolia and Central Lambton!

With a $14-million construction contract awarded to K&L Construction Ltd., this long-awaited project will bring much-needed improvements to the emergency and diagnostic imaging departments, helping ensure patients and families can continue to access quality care close to home for generations to come.

But bringing this vision to life takes a community! Through Bluewater Health Foundation, $2.3 million has already been raised toward our $5-million community fundraising goal, with $2.7 million left to raise to help make this redevelopment a reality. Every donation brings us closer to building a stronger future for healthcare in Petrolia.

Thank you to Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig (SKG), an Anishinaabe post-secondary institute in Sault Ste. Marie, for donating 20 smudge kits to Bluewater Health's Indigenous Navigation Services team! Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig - Shingwauk Teaching Lodge

Each kit includes four sacred medicines — sage, to***co, cedar, and sweetgrass — grown and dried by SKG, along with a smudge pot and educational resources.

These kits have been warmly received by clients, helping support connections to Indigenous cultural and spiritual practices.

Bluewater Health's Indigenous Navigation Services team supports Indigenous patients and families in navigating the hospital system and accessing culturally safe, respectful care.

October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day — a day to remember pregnancies and babies lost too soon, and to recognize the families who carry that loss with them.

At Bluewater Health, we know that pregnancy loss can bring both physical and emotional challenges. Earlier this year, we launched an Early Pregnancy Loss Clinic, connecting patients with an OB/GYN and Social Work to help ensure both their medical and emotional support needs are met.

On October 15, candles will be displayed throughout Bluewater Health as a symbol of remembrance, reflection, and support for those who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss.

💗 Our Mammography team is going Pink with Purpose this October!

Help us support the Women's Interval Home of Sarnia-Lambton by donating new bras, underwear, socks, and hygiene essentials throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Donations can be dropped off at our Mammography Department until October 31. Every donation makes a difference! 💕

We are grateful to the Mammography Department at Bluewater Health for hosting the Pink with Purpose: Her Essentials Drive, in support of the Women’s Interval Home of Sarnia-Lambton! Throughout October, this incredible initiative is helping us provide comfort, care, and dignity to women in our community.
