🌺Happy Navratri 🌺
🦃Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
This is such an interesting time! ✨
The transition from the Ancestral Fortnight 👴👵 (Pitru Paksha) to the Nine Nights of the Goddess 👸 (Navratri) coincides with Canadian Thanksgiving this year 🦃
Pitru Paksha or Ancestral Fortnight is all about showing gratitude and praying for our ancestors, the very genetics we carry in every cell of our body. 🧬 Their strengths, their resilience, even their struggles live on in us.
And just as we close this season of remembering where we come from, Navratri begins, nine nights honouring the Divine Feminine. 🪔
If our ancestors show us where we come from, Shakti helps us realize who we are meant to be. She expresses herself in three forms:
🌱 Iccha Shakti, the power of will, helps us set our intention
📿 Jnana Shakti, the power of wisdom, grants us the knowledge to realize it
🔥 Kriya Shakti, the power of action, aligns what we do with that goal
Here in Canada, the same weekend, families gather around the table to give thanks. 🍂
Three traditions, one thread: gratitude.
🙏 For those who came before us
🌺 For the strength within us
🍽️ For the nourishment in front of us
Our genes may load the dice, but how we eat, live, and think shapes what is expressed.
Honouring our ancestors isn’t only about remembering them. It’s about caring for the body they passed on to us, with intention, wisdom, and action.
This weekend, as you sit down to your Thanksgiving meal, take a moment to thank the hands that grew it, cooked it, and the hands that came long before yours, whose love, virtues, stories, and recipes still live on in you. You are here because of their strength. The very body you nourish today is their gift to you. And bow to the Shakti within you, the quiet strength that turns their legacy into your becoming. 💛
Happy Thanksgiving, and a blessed Navratri to all who celebrate! 🦃🪔
