VAGUS NERVE - Part 2
As we are stepping into a new fall season and life can become more hectic – New projects await and or Kids back to school, and the days become shorter and cooler-
As was stated in the first vagus nerve post - Acupuncture excels in supporting the vagus nerve which helps our immune system as well as reactivating this nerve’s natural ability to regulate the many systems in the body
Lets use a short form for Vagus nerve functions and how acupuncture supports it
RHAD: Acupuncture can help the vagal signalling with:
Regulation of neurotransmitters – serotonin and Dopamine
HRV elevation. – increases heart rate variability which is linked to a greater resilience to dealing with stress.
Anti inflammatory support- it helps decrease inflammation which can cause vagus nerve dysfunction
Digestive organ improved function – helping alleviate conditions such as bloating, acid reflux, and irritable bowel syndrome which disrupts the gut – brain axis.
Hoping this has shown the connection of Acupuncture Chinese Medicine to improved vagal Functioning:)

Lets go to Vagus - Linking ancient Chinese Medicine to this incredible part of our nervous system

Your Vagus nerve is getting much attention today -let’s take a look why –
Vagus is the latin word for “wandering” , our vagal nerves take a long winding course through your body. It exits from the medulla oblongata – brainstem, and passes through your neck, chest, heart, lungs, abdomen and digestive tract.
The vagus nerves are the longest cranial nerves in the body. They play a crucial role in involuntary sensory and motor functions inclusive of:
Digestion, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, immune system responses, mood, mucus and saliva production, speech and taste, to name a few.
As you can see it is intrinsically connected to feelings of stress, namely the fight or flight model. As well as stomach upset, acid reflux, anxiety or hyper alertness.
There are many acupuncture points located along the pathways of this nerve to help support the nervous system. If you are feeling your nervous system needs some attention, come and schedule an acupuncture appointment to see how Chinese Medicine Acupuncture can help.

The ancient Chinese physicians were astute about the importance of gut health - they understood if the intestinal energy was weak you could have anxiety or ADHD, they realized if the microbiome was unbalanced you could have heart burn, bloating or chronic sinusitis and even allergies
They also mentioned in their ancient texts that if the intestines were inflamed it could seep into the joints causing pain or arthritis.
Come in and have some Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and rebalance your gut health:)

Chinese Medicine has always recognized that the mind, body, and spirit are deeply connected. Rather than treating them separately, this ancient healing system works to restore harmony throughout the whole person, supporting emotional well-being alongside physical health.

With thousands of years of clinical wisdom and experience, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine have helped countless people find greater balance, resilience, and a renewed sense of calm.
Summer is a wonderful time for catching up and can also become hectic. If you find yourself overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, or simply not like yourself—physically or emotionally—consider giving acupuncture and/or herbal medicine a try. Supporting your mental health begins with caring for your whole being.

You don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. We’d be honoured to support you on your journey toward greater health, balance, and well-being.

I am thinking about Qi today - as we are still in wintering mode, here is an excerpt from my upcoming book:)
Qi is the unseen energy of life that supports your body’s known and visible functions. Zheng Qi is the body’s upright, organizing, and self-healing force. Zheng Qi is not just immune strength, it is: structural intelligence, capacity of repair , emotional resilience and the body’s ability to return to harmony.
“When Zheng Qi is strong, pathogenic factors cannot invade.”
— Huangdi Neijing- The Yellow Emperor's Inner Cannon
(206 BCE)
