The need for safe emotional connection is wired by millions of years of evolution. From cradle to grave, we seek comfort through connection. Distressed partners may use angry words or show unpleasant emotions but underneath are always asking: Are you there for me? Do I matter to you? Will you show up when I need you?
Love is our best survival mechanism and to suddenly feel cut off from our partner is coded by the brain as a primal panic. When we understand these primary attachment needs and longing for connection, we start to lean into each other, rather than away. We start to build capacity to hold each other through not just the good times but through our most challenging life moments. There is hope in finding our way back to each other ❤️

What we give our attention to grows. Expanding our awareness actually creates new neural pathways in the brain. What do you want to grow more of in your life?
For me these days it’s Connection, Positivity, Patience. ❤️☀️🧘🏼‍♀️

The 2025 Mental Health Day theme is “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” which stresses the importance of inclusive support during crises. It’s not just about physical aid; mental health services like counseling and psychological care are equally crucial. This day aims to create a safe space for individuals to share their struggles and seek help, promoting resilience and reducing stigma.

We need to hear each other and lean in to each other 💚

As the season changes, remember to allow yourself to slowly transition. Your nervous system needs time to adjust to the busyness of the fall routine, the cooler weather and the many emotions that come with this time of year.

If you were able to experience the slowness and lightness of summer, remember that was imprinted in your nervous system and your body and brain remember what that experience was.

So elicit a felt sense of it in the middle of your busy day and remind yourself that even in the busy times, we always have time to slow down, be present, look around, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment 🍃🍂 ☀️
