Sometimes we carry the weight of tomorrow before we've finished today.
Our minds race ahead, creating a long list of everything that needs our attention, until it all feels impossible.
When overwhelm takes over, try shrinking the timeline.
Instead of focusing on everything that's left to do, come back to what's right in front of you.
One conversation.
One task.
One meal.
One breath.
Small steps don't mean you're falling behind.
They mean you're caring for yourself in a sustainable way.
If today feels like a lot, let this be your reminder:
You don't have to do everything today. 🤍

When everything feels like too much, your mind often tells you to push harder.
But overwhelm isn't usually a sign that you're doing life wrong.
It's often a sign that your mind and body have been carrying more than they were meant to carry alone.
You don't have to solve everything today.
You don't need to have all the answers.
You only need to come back to this moment... and take the next small step.
✨ Pause.
✨ Breathe.
✨ Name what you're feeling.
✨ Focus on one thing.
✨ Let "good enough" be enough.
✨ Reach out if you need support.
Healing doesn't happen by forcing yourself through overwhelm.
It begins with meeting yourself with compassion.
If this resonates with you, save this post for the days when life feels heavy—and share it with someone who might need the reminder today. 🤍

This week on THE BLOG we will discuss "What to do when you feel overwhelmed".
Overwhelm can feel like your mind is racing while your body shuts down—or like everything is demanding your attention at once.
In those moments, the goal isn’t to solve everything.
It’s to take one small step at a time.
I have a chair for you, I'd love to chat.

One of the reasons I chose A Chair at the Table Counselling Services as my practice name is because chairs represent something we all need:

A place to pause.

A place to rest.

A place to feel supported.

When emotions become overwhelming, imagine yourself sitting in a sturdy chair.

Feel it holding your weight.

Notice your breathing.

Feel your feet connected to the ground.

Sometimes healing begins with nothing more complicated than allowing yourself to stop and be present.

What helps you feel grounded when life feels heavy?

🤍 I’d love to hear in the comments.

One of the biggest misconceptions about grounding is that it’s supposed to “fix” anxiety.

It isn’t.

Grounding is a way of reconnecting with the present when your mind is racing or your nervous system feels overwhelmed.

Think of it as creating an anchor in the middle of a storm.

The storm may still be there—but you’re less likely to be swept away by it.

With practice, grounding can become one of many tools that help you care for your emotional well-being.

If anxiety or overwhelm has become a regular part of your life, know that you don’t have to navigate it alone.

There is always a chair at the table.

💙 Which grounding technique helps you most? Share it below—you may encourage someone else today.

When life feels overwhelming, start with this moment. 🤍

Anxiety often pulls us into the "what ifs" of tomorrow or the weight of yesterday.

Grounding gently invites us back to right here, right now.

✨ Notice your surroundings.
✨ Slow your breathing.
✨ Name what you're feeling.
✨ Feel the support beneath you.
✨ Remind yourself that you're safe in this moment.

These practices won't make every difficult feeling disappear, but they can help you reconnect with yourself when everything feels uncertain.

At A Chair at the Table, we believe healing begins in a space where you feel safe enough to simply be.

No pressure.
No pretending.
Just a place to pause, breathe, and be heard.

Because everyone deserves a place at the table.

🤍 Save this for the days you need a gentle reminder.
🤍 Share it with someone who might need one today.

This week on THE BLOG were going to learn about "5 Grounding techniques you can use anywhere".
When anxiety rises or emotions feel too heavy, grounding techniques can help bring you back to the present. These tools are simple, accessible, and can be used almost anywhere, whether you’re at home, at work, or in the middle of a difficult moment.
Grounding doesn’t make your feelings disappear, but it helps you feel steadier within them.
If you'd like to talk more I have a chair waiting for you.
