The height of your car headrest has a direct effect on how your neck handles force during even minor stops and collisions.

When it sits too low, typically directly behind the back of the head, the neck is far more vulnerable to strain in the event of a rear impact. Most headrests are adjustable, and repositioning takes about ten seconds. It is one of the simplest injury-prevention habits most people have never thought about.

Take a quick look at your headrest next time you hop in your car!

Frozen shoulder (also called adhesive capsulitis) is a condition where the shoulder joint capsule becomes inflamed and stuff, leading to pain and limited movement.

Here's a frozen shoulder exercise from Tamara!

Walk your hand up and down the wall to the highest or lowest comfortable extension. Hold position for 10-15 seconds to build strength in the shoulder joint. This builds the strength you need for daily activities, such as reaching into a cupboard for a glass.

Meet your Team Monday!

Today we are introducing Drew. Drew has recently completed his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree at the University of Saskatchewan. During his time at the university, he developed a strong understanding of human movement, biomechanics, and rehabilitation while building a passion for working with individuals of all ages and activity levels to help them move better, feel better, and get back to doing the activities they enjoy most.

While attending university, Drew was also the captain of the USask Huskies track and field team, competing as a long jumper. His background in athletics gave him firsthand experience with injury prevention, recovery, and performance training, helping shape his patient-centered approach to care.

In his free time, he still enjoys training for track as well as spending time outdoors with friends.

You are sitting in traffic, running late for something, and without even noticing it your shoulders have inched up toward your ears. Your jaw is tight. Your hands are gripping the wheel a little harder than they need to. A few minutes later you catch yourself and consciously lower your shoulders, on...

Spinal discs have almost no direct blood supply, so they rely on movement to draw in fluid and nutrients and push waste out. Sitting still for long stretches essentially puts that exchange on pause.

Standing up and moving for a minute every half hour is one of the simplest things you can do for long-term disc health.

There are safe and unsafe positions during a massage while being pregnant. With the correct positioning and pillows, prenatal patients can have a comfortable massage.

Prone (face down) is safe only until 13 weeks of pregnancy, after 13 weeks side-lying position is safe and comfortable in all trimesters. However, the patient can go into the side-lying position sooner for their comfort. A pillow is placed under the ankles.

Supine (face up) is safe during pregnancy. Support under knees throughout pregnancy, and 13-22 weeks there may be a pillow placed under the right hip.

Side-lying (pictured) is used from 13 weeks until birth, but sooner if preferred by the patient. A pillow is used between the legs to support the hips, knees, and ankles, as well as 1-2 pillows under the head to support head and neck. A pillow may be added under the lumbar region to support the belly. A pillow may be held against the torso for added comfort.

Semi-recline (pictured) is used when a patient is supine at 22 weeks until birth. A pillow is placed under the knees and 3-5+ pillows are used to create a wedge pillow stack to support the upper body.

**Some of these positions can be used after pregnancy, depending on the comfortability of the patient in the postnatal stages.**

After your initial evaluation, your chiropractor designs a treatment plan unique to your body's needs. Consistency is key to reaching your health goals, and that's why we focus on three specific types of care:

Rehabilitative: Frequent treatments designed to restore your health and get you feeling your best.

Corrective: Regular, scheduled care to maintain your progress and keep your spine healthy.

Preventative: Less frequent treatments to keep your spine and nervous system healthy.

Skipping appointments can lead to setbacks, potentially taking your progress back to the original starting point. We want to keep you moving forward and feeling your best!
