Recently I was doing a BodyTalk session for a teen girl.
BodyTalk followed the priorities of her body, for the session to address her bleed time and what it revealed seems to be universal to all women and felt worthy to share.
Her bleed time was described as the time "when she couldn't pretend anymore."
I couldn't stop thinking about that.
Because the more women I work with, the more I see this pattern.
For most of the month, women are remarkably good at overriding themselves.
They go to work when they're exhausted. They agree to things they don't want to do. They tell themselves that a relationship is fine when it isn't, that they're not hurt when they are, and that they'll rest later.
Many of us become so skilled at pushing our own needs aside that we stop noticing we're doing it.
Then the bleed arrives.
Progesterone and Estrogen drop, and there is no energy to keep up the facades.
Suddenly, the things that felt manageable last week feel overwhelming. The extra commitment you agreed to feels like too much. The conversation you've been avoiding is still there waiting for you. The resentment you've been trying not to feel is harder to explain away.
Nothing necessarily changed.
What's changed is your capacity to keep overriding what you already know.
As we continued the session, her body brought us to a belief that she needed to perform.
Not on a stage, in life. Perform for others by being good. To meet expectations. To hold it together.
To be the version of herself that made other people comfortable.

And I remember thinking, "She's fifteen."
Because this wasn't the story of a burnt-out forty-five-year-old woman trying to juggle work, children, aging parents, and a household.
This was a teenage girl.
Already carrying the pressure of who she thought she needed to be.
Already learning to disconnect from what she felt in order to become what was expected.
What struck me most wasn't that her body showed us the pattern.
It's that her body refused to let her stay disconnected from it forever.
Every month, the same message had been returning via her symptoms, her emotions.
Until we listened to it and understand that her issues were her body's way of saying -Listen!! It is safe to stop performing and be yourself.
That's something I see often in BodyTalk sessions.
People come in wanting relief from a symptom, but underneath the symptom is usually a conversation that has been waiting to happen.
The body keeps bringing our attention back to the places where we're exhausted, hurt, disconnected, overwhelmed, or living out of alignment with ourselves.
Not because it's trying to make life difficult.
Because it's trying to get our attention.
And sometimes the message isn't complicated.
Sometimes the message is simply:
"This isn't working anymore. I'm ready to change"

What if one of the biggest problems we’re facing… is not what’s happening to our bodies— but how disconnected we’ve become from them?
I read something this morning about disposable diapers.
The idea was simple: When a child wears a disposable diaper, they don’t feel wetness in the same way.
There’s no clear feedback loop.
No sensation → no awareness → no connection.
And over time… it can make potty learning harder.
But this isn’t really about diapers.
It’s about something much bigger.

We are living in a world that constantly interrupts the body’s natural communication.
We override:
- hunger cues
- rest signals
-emotional responses
- instinctual knowing
We distract. We numb. We push through.
And eventually… we stop hearing the body altogether.

In my work, this is the core of almost everything I see.
Not broken bodies. Not failing systems. But a loss of connection.
A loss of relationship with what the body is saying.

Most adults I work with: can’t clearly feel when they’re hungry don’t notice tension until it becomes pain struggle to identify what they’re feeling have learned to override their own needs for years
And we expect babies and children to stay connected in environments where disconnection is the norm.
Technology amplifies this.
Constant stimulation pulls attention outward.
The body becomes background noise.
But the body doesn’t stop communicating. It just gets quieter… or louder in ways we can’t ignore.
Symptoms. Stress. Burnout. Fertility struggles. Birth challenges.

Not random. It is ALL Communication.

And the work—whether it’s fertility, pregnancy, birth, or day to day life— is not about fixing the body.
It’s about learning to listen again.
Rebuilding the feedback loop.
Reconnecting sensation to awareness.
Because babies come in fully connected.
They feel. They communicate. They respond.
And part of conscious parenting… is not teaching them to disconnect like we did.
It’s learning to reconnect ourselves first.
