Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada.
As Elmwood is situated on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis, we are grateful for opportunities to learn from and honour the Indigenous communities whose presence, knowledge, and stewardship continue to shape this land.
This coming Wednesday, we are honoured to welcome the Cree Canaries, Traditional Dancers, and Hoop Dancers, as residents and team members will gather to mark the occasion through cultural performances, shared stories, and meaningful moments of connection.
National Indigenous Peoples Day is a time for celebration, reflection, and learning. We remain committed to fostering understanding, building respectful relationships, and advancing the work of truth and reconciliation in our community.
We are thankful for the opportunity to come together in recognition and appreciation.
