Trevor and Michelle have returned from Congress in Halifax!

From Michelle "It has been so exciting to share Canadian Physiotherapy Association/Association canadienne de physiothérapie Congress together. So many amazing connections, takeaways and recognitions of our colleagues.

It has been an honour and a privilege to represent Saskatchewan Physiotherapists through the Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Association and I am excited for what the future holds. So many bright opportunities on the horizon for our profession and for care within our communities."

Spring is here, and the weather is finally warm!

It doesn't need to be warm to be outside, but it makes it feel great to be out! And with that gardening, walking or even running could be on the agenda.

If running is a favorite activity, being sure to do some strength training along with running is ideal!

We are wrapping up the week with a little - something that may come in handy when getting up and down form the ground, or training for some sport specific activities!

Check out the Reverse Lunge to Knee Drive

Performance
> Stand tall
> Shift weight onto working leg
> Hinge hips back as you reach back with one leg into a reverse lunge
> Keep the pressure in your front foot
> Next, come back up into stance and drive your moving leg forwards, knee to chest

Notes
* Do not let your knee cave inwards on the stance/working leg
* You should feel your glute and hamstring muscles working as your hinge your hips back, and your quad muscle work as you stand back up

Benefits
* Lateral hip stability, balance, muscular control
* Great for functional activities such as stairs, and even better for sport specific motions that include unilateral lower extremity work (running, jumping, landings)

Enjoy trying this exercise - it is great for many things - and never hesitate to reach out with any questions!
