The “Generations in Paint” art exhibition showcased the strong connection between this year’s iGen students and Elders. Throughout the school year, students and Elders painted portraits of each-other during iGen Art Club, and those pieces were on display this morning outside of the Arts Studio.

The exhibition also celebrated National Intergenerational Day which is a day where Intergenerational relationships are promoted and celebrated across Canada.

Be sure to watch Global Saskatoon tonight at 5pm and 6pm, as well as 8:50am tomorrow morning, to see “Generations in Paint” celebrated on television!

We would like to invite you to a celebration of friendship and creativity taking place tomorrow morning at Sherbrooke!

A special art exhibition called Generations in Paint Art will take place near the Arts Studio from 10am-11:15am. This exhibition is a culmination of the full school years work in the iGen Art Club and features work by residents, students, and staff that exemplifies true intergenerational relationships. Students and residents drew portraits of each-other through the out the year, and those portraits will be on display.

We are hosting the exhibition on June 1st because it is National Intergenerational Day in Canada. This day celebrates and promotes the many benefits of intergenerational relationships, and we are so grateful that the iGen program provides the opportunity for students and residents to form meaningful friendships.

We hope to see you tomorrow morning!

James would like you to know that gardening season is here at Sherbrooke!

If your family member has expressed an interest in gardening or has had a garden box in the past, we are offering you the opportunity to be involved with them this summer.

If your family member is new to the Sherbrooke community and would like to have a garden box, please call 306-655-3651. We can get a box ready to be planted and let you know where it will be located. If you already have a garden box, you can continue to plant in that one.

If you are able to provide your family member with the plants they would like, and are able to assist them with planting, that would be fantastic! Gardening tools will be available to borrow from the greenhouse and water buckets will be filled in each gardening area.

If you are unable to assist your family member with this project at this time, please let us know at 306-655-3651 and we will arrange for a staff member or volunteer to assist with the planting and care of their garden box.

Thank you so much and happy gardening!

A big thank you to everyone who made this week’s performances of Cinderella so much fun!

iGen students and Elders came together to tell this classic story through singing, dancing, and some very creative sets. There was so much joy and energy on stage, and all the performers and behind the scene crews did an outstanding job!

It was wonderful to see the Tawaw Centre packed for the three performances, and the money raised will go towards the iGen camping trip to Pike Lake Provincial Park in June.

Afternoon tea is a lovely tradition in England, and Elders in Veterans Village had a wonderful time taking part in the tradition this week!

Scones with clotted cream, along with many cups of tea and sandwiches, were served to Elders. It was a great afternoon, and we want to say thank you to the Save-On-Foods on 8th and Cumberland for donating the scones and clotted cream for our tea!

We also want to say a big thank you to our own Hayley Minshall for making this afternoon tea happen🇬🇧

A group of Elders, staff, family members, and volunteers had a great time cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders to victory yesterday at Griffiths Stadium!

It was the first CFL preseason game in 35 years in Saskatoon, and the Riders made sure all the fans went home happy by beating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 31-27.

Our Sherbrooke crew was right on field level in the south endzone and had a close-up view of some exciting touchdowns! We can’t wait to cheer on the Riders to another Grey Cup this season!

Green is the colour, football is the game, and Sherbrooke Elders are ready for the CFL season to begin!

Elders and staff took in Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp today at Griffiths Stadium and were able to meet players, staff and even Head Coach, Corey Mace! We even had Roughrider receiver Kian Shaffer-Baker join us on the bus!!

A big thank you to Roughrider General Manager, Jeremy O’Day, for his kindness and generosity in making these meetings happen today. Go Riders Go!

We want to give you an update on the Veterans Village entrance construction project.

The concrete was successfully poured last week, but the entrance remains closed as we are waiting for the concrete to set before installing the fence. We are hoping to have the fence installed by the end of this week.

The entrance will remain closed until the fence is installed.

Thank you for your continued patience and support with this project, and we will let you know when the Veterans Village entrance is open again to our community.
