Fiona Wardle is retiring!

As the founding partner of Midwives of Algoma, Fiona has been integral in introducing midwifery services to the Algoma area, and has achieved incredible things during her time as a midwife and at Sault Area Hospital. We are excited for her as she embarks on a new adventure, but will miss her very much.

We have had more than a few people this year call for care only to discover we are full!

We can not stress this enough - if you have a positive pregnancy test and would like to see a Midwife, call us as SOON as you get that test. You do not need a referral or pregnancy confirmation from your NP or Family Doc, although we are happy to accept referrals from them. Call us ASAP to be placed with a Midwife and our fantastic office manager Nikki will get back to you with a dating ultrasound option, first trimester screening options and routine blood and urine tests.

We would LOVE to accommodate everybody but have a limited number of monthly spaces and fill up quickly so please DO NOT WAIT to call!

(And if we determine that you are carrying multiples or are otherwise not appropriate for midwifery care, we will be happy to refer you to one of our excellent OB colleagues! )

Please remember that wearing a mask that covers your mouth and nose is REQUIRED when entering our office.

These are unusually stressful times, especially for families. Take care of you. Say no, take time for the things that bring you joy. Without guilt!

Ways to set boundaries in your life:
1️⃣I’m not able to commit to that right now.
2️⃣I can’t right now, but would be open to you asking me again in 6 months.
3️⃣Block time in your calendar for self care and DO not delete it.
4️⃣ Have no regrets and do not apologize for prioritizing yourself.
5️⃣ Do not apologize for prioritizing yourself (and repeat it in your head again and again whenever that guilty conscience tries to sabotage you!)
