Healthy Ego vs. Distorted Ego

A healthy ego says:

☆ I matter.
☆ My needs are important.
☆ I can make mistakes and still be worthy.
☆ I can celebrate my gifts without feeling superior.
☆ I can set boundaries without guilt.

A distorted ego says:
◇ I have to be better than everyone else.
◇ I am never wrong.
◇ My worth depends on what others think of me.
◇ I need constant validation from external sources.
◇ I must control everything.

The problem isn't ego itself.
The problem is fear. Insecurity. Old wounds that drivethe ego.

Reiki helps us soften & release those fears so the ego can return to its natural, healthy role.

Making Peace with the Ego: A Reiki Perspective-

The Ego isn't the enemy.
For many years, spiritual communities have talked about "killing the ego" or "letting go of the ego." While well-intentioned, this concept created confusion and even shame. It created a world of judgement..a world divided. Well meaning spiritualists felt compelled to deny a natural part of themselves in attempts to break free of what was once seen as selfishness. We moved away from autonomy and began thinking as a collective, despite the fact that we are all fully functioning individuals who are a cog in the greater universe.

The truth is, we all need an ego.
Your ego is the part of you that knows your name, remembers your life experiences, protects your boundaries, and helps you navigate the world. Without it, you couldn't function in daily life.
The goal should never be to eliminate the ego.
The goal is to create a healthy relationship with it.

In many Eastern traditions, the ego was not always viewed as something evil. However things started to go sideways when we became completely identified with our ego and forgot that we are not only that.
A healthy spiritual path is not about destroying the ego part of self.
It's about remembering that part of the self is part of something greater.

Summer Solstice Reflections: Finding Reiki in the Busy Moments

Today marks the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and a beautiful reminder of the fullness of life. Gardens are growing, the fields are vibrant green, the birds are busy raising their babies and the earth is alive with the energy of movement, and possibility.
Honestly, the past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. Between family celebrations, baking, markets, and the everyday demands of life, I haven't had time for a full meditation or a lengthy Reiki practice.
But one of the best things about Reiki is that it doesn't have to be complicated. This week I've been practicing what I call "Minute Reiki." A quick hand on my heart while waiting for the cookies to bake. A few slow, deep breaths and Reiki flowing through my hands before falling into bed after a busy day. A moment of gratitude while sipping my coffee before everyone gets up for the day. Just a reiki pause to reconnect with myself before moving on to the next task.

Sometimes healing happens in an hour-long session. Sometimes it happens in small sixty second increments.

The Solstice reminds us that we don't have to force growth. Nature follows its own rhythm; it's own timeline. The seeds that were planted in spring are beginning to grow, and the Solstice invites us to do the same—trusting that even small moments of presence, self-care, and connection can nourish something lovely within us.

As we step into the abundance of summer, may you find time to pause, breathe, and receive the energy that is always available to you, even on the busiest of days.

Happy Summer Solstice. May your season be filled with growth, joy, vitality, and light.

Before I begin my day, I take a few moments to clear my space, quiet my mind, and set my intention.
The gentle sound of my singing bowl reminds me to pause, breathe, and return to myself.
What morning ritual helps you start your day with peace? 🔥

Real-Life Reiki-
Many people imagine Reiki as something that only happens during a formal session, lying peacefully on a treatment table. While those sessions can be amazing, Reiki can also be part of everyday life.

♡Waiting in a busy doctor's office? Place your hands gently in your lap and invite Reiki to flow for a calming effect.
♡Feeling stressed before a meeting or appointment? Take a moment to breathe and allow Reiki to support calm and clarity.
♡Stuck in traffic? Send Reiki to your own patience, or to everyone traveling safely, often as the reiki flows authenticly, the traffic begins to flow.
♡Sore knee after a busy day? Rest your hands there while watching television.
♡Having a difficult conversation? Invite Reiki to guide your words and help you listen with compassion.

This is what I call "Real life Reiki"—small moments of connection woven into ordinary life. It doesn't have to be perfect, quiet, or ceremonial. Reiki meets us exactly where we are: in grocery store lineups, busy kitchens, waiting rooms, and challenging moments.

The more we invite Reiki into our everyday experiences, the more it becomes a way of living rather than something we only do.

Reiki isn't just a practice. It's a relationship with peace, presence, and healing that can travel with you wherever you go.

How could you use Reiki in your daily life?

Did you remember blow cinnamon into your front door today?

It's easy- just open your front door, invite prosperity, luck and good fortune...and blow a bit of cinnamon into your front doorway.

This popular modern magical practice is embraced by many in the spiritual community as a way of welcoming abundance, prosperity, success, and positive opportunities into the home.

You might say:
"As this cinnamon blows into my home, abundance, prosperity, and blessings flow"

While this is a modern spiritual custom rather than an ancient Wiccan tradition, it serves as a beautiful reminder to begin each month with gratitude, hope, and clear intentions.

The magic lies in being open to receive the flow of abundance...

May this new month bring you exactly what you need and perhaps a little magic too ✨
