A simple warm breakfast idea. I used some chicken bone broth I made last time I roasted a chicken. Added some chopped ginger and let it boil then added two eggs and some green onion.
The onion and ginger is warming this time of year and helps keep those fall colds away.
The bone broth and eggs are yin builders...meaning they help moisten a dry system.
Nourishing the body with moist, warm foods keeps the body in balance and combats the burn out so many people encounter in our busy world.
Is your tongue dry when you look at it? Do you feel dry? Hot at night? Flushed face? Dry skin, mouth, throat or eyes?
Some lightly cooked veggies would be a great addition I just kept it simple today.
Cold smoothies, cereal and milk, caffeine only, or protein shakes don't kickstart your digestive strength the way a warm breakfast can.

Chinese Medicine likes warmth, it keeps things in the flow.

It's my birthday this week and I feel like giving someone a free treatment!!

If you don't have any insurance and acupuncture feels like a luxury you don't normally have access to, and you feel like you could use some rest for your mind, body or spirit. Send me a private message and let me know, you are also welcome to write it in the comments.

If I get a number of messages I'll do a little draw but I'll contact you privately if you are chosen.

Thanks for helping me celebrate the gift of this life!

What you eat (and drink)affects more than your physical body. It also affects your mental health. Paying attention to patterns can help you pinpoint big or small changes that can improve physical and mental health.

WIND 🌬️

In Chinese Medicine wind is seen as an "evil" or a pathogenic factor that can cause disease.
There is so much more to explain to make this make sense in our Western minds, but in Chinese medicine we look at nature and it's characteristics and liken it to our own bodies and minds.
From there we use "simple" strategies using needles, tools, exercise, lifestyle or herbs/foods to bring balance.
Watch my video for a brief description of how wind could affect the body and send me some questions if you want me to explain more.

In Chinese Medicine the organs are linked to channels or pathways in the body. This is often why I needle the foot to treat the liver, or the thumb to treat the lung. Energy moves through the body in specific ways and when that energy is blocked and stagnated, symptoms can occur.
Movement and flow help regain the function of the meridians, the organs and the mind. Everything is connected.

I was talking to a friend the other day about how the Kidney is related to fear in Chinese Medicine and giving the example of when someone is frightened or startled there is a tendency to urinate without control! Because not only is the kidney related to fear but also in controlling the two lower orifices (think p*e and p**p!) So a weak kidney can cause excessive fear or too much fear can affect the kidney.
Each organ has correlations to emotions and they have balanced and unbalanced manifestations in the body and mind. Interesting? I think so!

In Chinese Medicine the Lung is the organ associated with the Fall (think respiratory illness season), and the sense organ associated with the Lung is the nose.

Breathing through your nose is vital for strong qi (energy) and a strong immune system. In Chinese Medicine we say the lung controls the "Wei Qi" or Defensive Qi of the body, essentially acting like a guard against pathogens trying to enter the body.

Notice today how you are breathing and how many times you catch yourself breathing through your mouth. Can you then switch to nasal breathing and notice how it feels?

Anxiety, sleep, allergies, fatigue, depression, digestion (and more) can all be improved by nasal breathing.
