At Greatlife Psychology Centre, we are committed to providing comprehensive psychological, vocational, and advocacy services to Veterans, active military members, first responders, and their families. Our goal is to support individuals at every stage of their recovery, rehabilitation, and transition, helping them access the resources, benefits, and services available to them.
Our services include comprehensive psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, and evidence-based counselling for a wide range of mental health concerns, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, occupational stress injuries, chronic pain, adjustment difficulties, and challenges associated with transitioning from military or first responder careers to civilian life. Counselling services are tailored to the unique needs of each individual and may incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology, mindfulness-based interventions, and other evidence-based approaches designed to promote resilience, recovery, and long-term well-being.
In addition to psychological services, we provide vocational rehabilitation counselling to assist individuals in identifying meaningful employment opportunities that align with their abilities, interests, physical limitations, and mental health needs. This may include vocational exploration, career planning, transferable skills identification, return-to-work planning, educational and retraining support, and collaboration with rehabilitation teams, case managers, and other service providers. When appropriate, we also assist with Diminished Earning Capacity (DEC) considerations by providing clinical information regarding functional limitations, vocational barriers, rehabilitation potential, and employability.
Recognizing that many Veterans and first responders face complex systems when seeking benefits and support, we also provide advocacy and guidance throughout the application, claims, and appeals process. This includes assistance with Disability Tax Credit (DTC) applications, Veterans Independence Program (VIP) service applications, Veterans Affairs Canada claims and appeals, and other programs related to physical and mental health concerns. Our support may include preparing letters of support, completing clinical documentation, assisting with application packages, coordinating supporting evidence, and collaborating with healthcare providers, community organizations, and support networks to strengthen applications and improve access to services.
We work closely with a variety of organizations and community partners, including Veteran-focused support groups, rehabilitation providers, and organizations such as The Veteran Farmer, to help ensure individuals receive comprehensive and coordinated care. Throughout the process, we strive to empower our clients by helping them understand their options, navigate complex systems, advocate for their needs, and build a pathway toward improved health, quality of life, and meaningful engagement in work, family, and community.
At Greatlife Psychology Centre, we believe that supporting Veterans and first responders extends beyond counselling alone. Our approach integrates psychological care, vocational rehabilitation, advocacy, education, and practical support to help individuals overcome barriers, maximize their strengths, and achieve their personal, occupational, and rehabilitation goals.
