Nothing beats an Alberta summer night around the fire. πŸ”₯ But did you know campfire sparks are a common cause of eye emergencies?

Smoke can cause severe dryness and irritation, and popping embers can lead to painful corneal burns or scratches.

Fire Safety Tips: πŸ”₯ Sit upwind of the smoke. πŸ”₯ Wear your glasses or sunglasses (even at night!) to provide a physical barrier. πŸ”₯ Keep a bottle of preservative-free artificial tears handy to flush out ash.

Have fun out there, Everyone! If the smoke gets the better of your eyes, we’re here to help on Monday morning.

DIY Project Update? πŸ”¨ Don't let a stray piece of wood or metal put your project on hold.

We see so many "foreign body" injuries in July from residents doing yard work or renovations in Sherwood Park. A tiny speck of debris can cause a painful scratch on your cornea in seconds.

If you feel like something is stuck in your eye: ❌ DO NOT RUB IT. ❌ DO NOT use tweezers. βœ… Flush with water and call Aspen Eye Care.

Dr. Bandali or Dr. Nagji can safely remove debris and get you back to your Saturday project in no time. πŸ‘·β™‚οΈπŸ•ΆοΈ

Heading to the lake or the spray park this weekend? 🌊 Keep this in mind: Water and contact lenses are a dangerous mix.

Bacteria and parasites (like the nasty Acanthamoeba) love to hide in lakes, hot tubs, and even pools. If they get trapped behind your contact lens, they can cause serious, sight-threatening infections.

Our Advice: βœ… Wear prescription goggles if you need to see in the water. βœ… Take your contacts out BEFORE you jump in. βœ… If your eyes feel red or gritty after swimming, give us a call at Aspen Plaza.

Stay safe and enjoy the water, Sherwood Park! β˜€οΈ

Life gets busy, and sometimes our parents and grandparents put their own health on the back burner. πŸ’™

As we wrap up Cataract Awareness Month, we have a quick favor to ask: Check in on the seniors in your life. Ask them how their vision is doing. Are they struggling to read the newspaper? Is driving at night making them nervous because of the glare?

If the answer is yes, it might be time for a check-up. We make the process easy, comfortable, and we direct-bill for any required eyewear.

Give the gift of clear vision. Call us on behalf of your loved one to help them set up an appointment today. πŸ“ž (780) 464-6458

It’s Cataract Awareness Month! But how exactly do we see what's going on inside your eye? πŸ”¬

Say hello to our OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) machine. Think of it like a highly detailed, 3D ultrasound for your eye, but it uses light instead of sound.

This incredible piece of technology allows Dr. Bandali and Dr. Nagji to look past the surface of your eye and examine the individual layers of your retina. It’s painless, takes only seconds, and helps us detect the absolute earliest signs of diseases like glaucoma and macular degeneration - years before you’d ever notice a symptom.

Experience the highest standard of eye care right here in Sherwood Park.
