Music therapy can work alongside other therapies to support the same goals in a different way. 🎶

For a child working on emotional expression in occupational therapy, music can provide another opportunity to explore, identify and express different feelings.

The goal stays the same. Music simply gives us another way to work toward it. ❤️

Collaboration across therapies can help create meaningful opportunities for skills to be explored in different environments and different ways.

It’s music therapy. Just music therapy. 😂🎶

A tiny distinction that every music therapist notices immediately.

And yes… we heard it. 👀

Music can meet us in so many different moments. ❤️

It can celebrate with us, sit beside us when things feel heavy, give us somewhere to put big feelings, or simply remind us that we’re not alone.

In music therapy, we can use those qualities of music intentionally to support emotional expression, connection, regulation and well being.

Sometimes we need the melody. Sometimes we need the rhythm. Sometimes we just need someone there with us in the music. 🎶

They don't need to sing.
They don't need to play an instrument.
They don't need to keep a beat.
They don't even need to like every kind of music.
Music therapy isn't about being "good" at music.
It's about using music intentionally to create opportunities for connection, communication, movement, expression, regulation and growth.
There is no musical prerequisite for being human. ❤️

After a summer break, I’m looking forward to reconnecting with clients, making music together, and settling back into another year of music therapy.

I’m also excited to be sharing here again. More little glimpses into my sessions, music therapy ideas, and information about what music therapy can look like and how it can support meaningful goals.

It feels good to be back 💛

I’m back! 🎶

Summer break has officially come to an end, and I’m excited to be back to music therapy sessions and sharing here again!

I’m looking forward to another year of sharing more about what music therapy can look like, how music can be used intentionally to support different goals, and little glimpses into the work I love so much.

There’s always more to learn, more to share, and of course, more music to make. 💛

Here’s to another year of music, connection and growth!

As summer begins, I’ll be taking a little break from posting here and soaking in this season with family, rest, and music of my own.

Thank you for following along, supporting this space, and allowing me to share the beauty of music therapy with you this year.

Music has a way of staying with us, even in the smallest moments. A familiar song, a rhythm, a shared laugh, or a calm moment can continue supporting connection, regulation, communication, and joy long after a session ends.

I hope your summer is full of meaningful moments and music that makes you feel alive.

See you in the fall 🤍

Taking a little summer pause over here...

Thank you for being part of this community and for supporting the work of music therapy throughout this past season. Watching children grow in confidence, connection, communication, and self expression through music continues to be such a privilege.

I hope your summer is full of moments that feel meaningful, calming, joyful, and musical in your own way.

See you in the fall!

Music therapy is an evidence-based practice that can support emotional regulation, self-expression, and social connection in many different populations 🎶💛

Research continues to grow showing how music can support mental health and emotional wellbeing in meaningful ways. While more research is still needed in some areas, it is exciting to see music therapy continue to be recognized as a valuable therapeutic approach.

One of the most powerful things about music is its ability to meet people where they are at emotionally, while creating opportunities for connection, expression, and regulation.

Music therapy sometimes surprises other professionals 🎶✨

What may look like “just music” is often supporting communication, regulation, motor skills, attention, social interaction, emotional expression, and so much more.

One of my favourite things is collaborating with other professionals and showing how music can support goals in ways that are engaging, motivating, and meaningful for children 💛

Music reaches children differently. Sometimes it becomes the bridge that helps a child connect, communicate, participate, or feel safe enough to engage.
