🦟 MINOR AILMENT SPOTLIGHT: TICK BITES 🦟

Spent time outdoors this summer? 🌲🥾 Don’t forget to check yourself for ticks!

A tick bite doesn’t always mean you’ll get sick, but blacklegged ticks can carry Lyme disease, so it’s important to take a bite seriously.

💚 Did you know?
In Ontario, tick bites are one of the minor ailments pharmacists can assess. Your pharmacist can determine whether treatment to help prevent Lyme disease is appropriate for you.

If you find a tick:
✔️ Remove it promptly
✔️ Clean the bite area and your hands
✔️ Keep track of when and where the bite occurred
✔️ Speak with a healthcare professional if you have concerns

Watch for symptoms such as fever, headache, chills, muscle or joint pain, fatigue, or an expanding circular rash, and seek medical attention if they occur.
