🧠 Trauma-informed teaching isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about creating a classroom where every student feels safe, seen, and supported. 💜

When students have experienced stress or trauma, the smallest classroom routines can make the biggest difference. From predictable schedules to movement breaks and calm transitions, these simple tools help regulate the nervous system and build trust.

✨ Your presence, your patience, and your practices matter.

📌 Save this post as a reminder that co-regulation starts with us.

Many people, across generations, continue to heal from the impacts of colonization, racism, and challenges related to mental health and substance use—both within and outside their communities.
Stigma and judgment make it harder for people to seek help, often leading to more substance use and deeper isolation. We all have a role in creating a culture of care—starting with how we talk about difficult topics like addiction and mental wellness. Speaking with compassion and without judgment helps people feel safe and supported, increasing the likelihood they’ll reach out for help. It’s also important to know what resources are available, especially if someone is thinking about su***de.

If you or someone you know needs immediate support, call 9-8-8 — the Su***de Crisis Helpline in Canada (available 24/7).
For Indigenous-based support, you can also reach out to:
• NANHOPE: Call or text 1-844-NAN-HOPE (626-4673)
• Hope for Wellness: 1-855-242-3310
• Talk4Healing: 1-855-554-HEAL

So many of us were raised on a diet of shame and punishment. In order to preserve attachment with our caregivers we were forced to hide our sadness and anger as part of self-preservation. Then when our child shows those same emotions, the child in us goes into protection mode— it doesn’t feel safe and we do almost anything to avoid the discomfort that arises.
